Six things to know about Fall Open Enrollment

Fall Open Enrollment, also known as the Annual Election Period, is the time of year when you can change your Medicare coverage. You can:

Join a new Medicare Advantage Plan or stand-alone prescription drug plan (Part D) plan

Switch between Original Medicare with or without a Part D plan and Medicare Advantage

Listed below are six things to keep in mind while you are choosing your Medicare coverage.

Fall Open Enrollment occurs each year from October 15 through December 7.

Review your current Medicare health and drug coverage. If you are dissatisfied with your coverage for next year, make changes during Fall Open Enrollment.

Drug Coverage for 2027 Medicare Plans stated on the ANOC(Annual Notice of Change) that you recently received.

Have you read the info for 2027 concerning Drug Costs?
Is your drug marked as covered?

Here' re a few things you need to know and understand:

1-All prescription drugs are not covered in the same way. Separate drugs fall onto different and varying Copays and Tiers:

Depending on the tier that your personal drugs fall onto, your out of pocket cost is different. Your out-of-cost expense depends on how your specific insurance plan classifies the drug on its formulary and what contract rate applies to that specific store.

2-Many insurance plans designate certain chains as "preferred" pharmacies. Going to a preferred location usually gives you a lower copay than using a standard in-network option. Be sure to see if your current drug chains are considered "preferred" or "standard in network".
