Vacation Notification

Dear friends in health,

Hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend!

This is a courtesy notification that I will be on vacation from Monday June 13th through Wednesday June 23rd. My brother and I are taking a road trip to see my Dad in Buffalo, NY for Father's day.

There are still a few appointments left! If you need to see me and are having trouble getting in, email me at [email protected]. Now that I have 2 treatment rooms I can possibly fit you in.

Let me know if you need to stock up on any product as soon as possible in case I need to order before I leave.

Hope you are staying healthy!

Update from Windsong Holistic Health about COVID-19

COVID UPDATES

Dear Windsong Holistic Health community,

The CDC just announced that vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear masks in outdoor and most indoor public places. This is great news!

What does that mean for my office?

We still need to adhere to local ordinances. Starting May 16-August 15th, Jefferson County will be going to level CLEAR. That means all businesses will be open at 100%. Jefferson County will be monitoring hospitalization rates to determine the next steps during that time and act accordingly should things shift.

What does that mean for mask-wearing?

If you can show proof of vaccination (card, picture, app), you will be allowed to visit my office without a mask, as I am also vaccinated. If anyone in your party (2+ people) is NOT vaccinated, everyone, including myself, will need to wear a mask. Children under 10 are excluded from this rule. If you are not comfortable shedding your mask just yet, you may continue to wear one and ask me to wear one as well. I am happy to oblige.

Starting Monday, May 17th these new rules will be in effect. Thank you all for your adherence to the mask guidelines thus far. We have kept the clinic from ever being a source of an outbreak!

Your partner in health,

Dr. Darlene

On Vacation Aug 15 - Aug 24th

Greetings friends in health!

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be on vacation from Aug 15th - Aug 24th. I will not be responding to email, text, or phone calls during that time. If you are in need of any product, please email me as soon as possible and I will get you covered!

I also wanted to let you know that I am still doing telemedicine. If you would like a consultation, you can book for either a 1/2 hour phone call or a Zoom session.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and finding ways to enjoy the summer. It is so important to take care of both our physical and mental/emotional health, especially during these times. Find a little something every day that will bring you a reason to smile and find joy. Expressing gratitude for what you are thankful for in your life can also help lift your spirits.

Take care and I am here if you need me!

Cinnamon linked to blood sugar control in prediabetes, study finds

Recent studies now show that Cinnamon can help with blood sugar regulation, especially in pre-diabetic conditions (see article below). Other helpful supplements are chromium, alpha lipoic acid and the herb gymnema sylvestre. Bring on the cinnamon!

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/21/health/cinnamon-prediabetes-wellness/index.html

Cinnamon may improve blood sugar control in people with prediabetes, according to a new pilot study. If future studies repeat the association, it may be another way to treat diabetes.

Cooling off? Study suggests 98.6 is no longer average body temperature

I would agree with this article! Now that I've been taking people's temperatures during office visits, I would say most people measure under 98.0. Rarely do I see someone with a 98.6 or higher temp. Interesting.

https://kdvr.com/news/coronavirus/cooling-off-study-suggests-98-6-is-no-longer-average-body-temperature/

Research by Stanford University suggests that human body temperatures have cooled off a bit, settling instead around 97.5.

Windsong reopening starting Saturday, May 9th

Dear Windsong Holistic Health community,

I hope this finds you all healthy. It's been a rough few months for sure. I know there isn't a person out there that hasn't been affected by COVID-19 in some way. Life will definitely be different going forward. It is more important than ever to stay as healthy as you can. I am confident we can weather this if we do it together!
With Denver lifting the stay at home order, (expires May 8th), it now appears I will be able to open the clinic starting this Saturday, May 9th. The schedule is open. You can book for Lakewood and Arvada (go to website www.windsongholistichealth.com).

To help keep us all safe, here is what we need to do until further notice:

• I will be wearing both a mask and gloves (new for each patient). I will ask that you wear a mask to the office.

• Once in the office, I will have hand sanitizer for you to use. I will take you temperature and inquire about symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, fever/chills, sore throat, muscles aches and/or headache. Anyone with a temperature over 100 will not be seen that day.

•I will be using paper on the table and pillow instead of cloth to help reduce spread.

• I will be staggering appointments to give me time in between appointments to clean surfaces, replace paper on the exam table and wipe down NAET vials and the Asyra handles.

• I will be running an air cleaner to help circulate air and will spray the room with air sanitizer between patients.

• I will not be looking at your tongue or taking pulses.

Phew! That's a lot, right? I will do everything in my power to protect us both. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Please email me if you have any more questions about what to do for visits.

I will continue telemedicine sessions permanently as part of the practice. The charge is $25 for every 15 minutes we talk. Please continue to use this in lieu of office visits if you prefer. You can book for either a phone call or a zoom session. If you book a zoom session, I will email you a link for the zoom prior to your appointment.

Email me with questions. Thank you all for your patience in waiting for the reopening. Stay healthy and see you soon.

Your partner in health,
Darlene

Great guide. If anyone is sick with symptoms, covid-19 or not, and you need a little help getting over the respiratory symptoms, cough or nasal congestion. I do have some formulas on hand to help you recover and get it out! Just email me [email protected] and I will pop it in the mail to you.

Is it COVID 19 or Seasonal Allergies?
It can be difficult to sanely assess what's going on with your body when we are in the middle of a worldwide viral pandemic. Maybe you have experienced the 'stare of fear' from people nearby when you sneeze or simply clear your throat. There is a lot of misguided fear out there and maybe this post can help clear some of it up.

COVID 19's most common symptoms according to the Center For Disease Control are FEVER, COUGH (usually dry), and Shortness of Breath. These symptoms appear anywhere between 2-14 days post exposure. These are not the only symptoms however these are the most common. The severity of the symptoms are different in different people and range from mild (not thinking you're sick) to severe (Needing to be hospitalized)

Seasonal Allergies present with varying symptoms. this can include nasal congestion, itchy/watery eyes, and sometimes a headache from the sinus congestion pressure. Seasonal allergies can trigger an asthma response in those with asthma and this can present with shortness of breath as well. Post nasal drip can make the throat sore in the mornings. Seasonal allergies however WILL NOT give you a fever.

Here is comparison chart from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America for symptoms of COVID 19, Cold, Influenza, and Seasonal Allergies.
Remember: DIFFICULTY BREATHING is ALWAYS an EMERGENCY!!!

Closing clinic through April 3rd to help flatten the curve

Helping to fight COVID-19

Friends in health,

After careful consideration, I feel it best to close my practice for the next 2 weeks. To be clear, I have not heard of any patietns diagnosed with the virus nor have I personally or my family. I just want to be part of the effort to help minimize the spread versus potentially becoming part of the problem.

I will be available for 1/2 phone consulations, which I will add to my schedule selection by morning. I am looking into video conferencing as well. We can discuss herbs, supplements, lifestyle, diet, etc. in order to keep you on your path to health! I will also continue to ship product to you for ongoing needs. Email is best when requesting product. I am also happy to send herbs if people are sick. There are many wonderful formulas to help clear typical cold and flu symptoms.

I am considering a way to continue NAET treatments in some way. Innovation abounds!. Stay tuned.

Continue to take care of yourself and your families. Rest, eat well, hydrate, support your immune system, get outside, and rediscover those lost hobbies and joyful distrations that are waiting in your closet!

I will let you know when I will reopen.

Darlene

Healthy choices during the corona virus

Friends in health,

The president's announcement tonight is a strong call for everyone to be vigilant in doing what we can to reduce the chances we will come into contact with the virus and to strenghten our bodies so that in case we are infected, we can fight the virus successfully.

With that, if your are sick, please feel free to cancel your appointment with me and stay home. The governor is encouraging seniors over 65 to minimize public contact. You may email me to let me know you wish to cancel your apointment.

Keep in mind that the 3 major symptoms of corona virus to be on the lookout for are:

1) Fever
2) Cough
3) trouble breathing/shortness of breath

There is a new drive through testing facility, however you will need a slip/email/fax from a doctor to get tested. Patients may call their doctor first to determine if they should come in or go directly to the testing facility.

Take care of your health to keep your body strong by:
1) Get enough rest
2) Reduce stress - it weakens your immune system
3) Reduce sugar intake - can suppress immune system
4) Take extra vitamin C - 1,000 mg daily at least
5) Keep hydrated
6) Add probiotics to help strengthen immunity
7) Colloidial silver - 1 tsp, 2X day as a preventative
8) Immune formulas containing astragalus, reishi mushroom, shataki mushroom, maitake mushroom are helpful
9) Garlic - helps immune system

If anyone needs immune formulas and would like me to send you something, please email and I will get some out to you.

Be well and take care of yourself and your loved ones. And wash, wash, wash your hands!

Darlene

Medicare To Cover Acupuncture For Chronic Low Back Pain | InsideHealthPolicy.com

Great news for patients with low back pain on Medicare! Medicare has announced it will now cover acupuncture for low back pain. Personally, I do take BCBS for those who would like coverage in my clinic. Cigna is coming soon! Many studies have shown that acupuncture helps more than standard care for low back pain, thereby reducing the need for opiods. I suggest trying at least 3-4 treatments to see if acupuncture will help with your pain.

So grateful to have Darlene, a caring, knowledgeable and informative holistic practitioner at Windsong.
Darlene, you are AMAZING! It has been 2 days since my first appointment with you and I am already feeling better physically. I was blown away by the accuracy of your biofeedback, and have been doing some reading and discovered that my history of Epstein-Barr Virus is likely the cause of my symptoms, the stress to the specific organs you mentioned, and my nutritional deficiencies! All the pieces are coming together and thanks to you I now have HOPE and optimism that I can heal completely, and I can let go of the anxiety and worry!! You are a true healer, a blessing from God, THANK YOU!!!
Hey there, how is it going? We've just liked your page. If you have some spare time we hope you can visit our page and kindly Like us back if that's alright with you. Thanks and have a nice week guys!
