When considering dental options, more and more families are choosing to opt-out of a traditional policy. According to a recent study, only an average of 5% of PPO enrollees are reaching their annual maximum benefit by the end of their policy term! With this in mind, you may not be getting your money's worth.

This month, we're breaking down our patient's most commonly asked questions about dental insurance, like:

What's the difference between a DMO and PPO dental plan?
What are the pros and cons of visiting an out-of-network dentist?
Before renewing my dental policy, what restrictions and terms should I be aware of?
If I don't like being locked in a traditional dental policy, what are my alternatives?

Most dental insurance plans renew at the end of each calendar year. So with December 31st drawing near, we want to help you make sense of your options, before it's too late.

Caring for your oral health has a direct effect on your body’s ability to fight disease. In turn, your diet, health history, and intake of certain medications may also counteract your efforts to properly care for your oral health.

In this month’s article, we examine this oral-systemic link to answer important questions, like:
• What are the systemic consequences of poor oral health?
• Are there benefits (outside of my mouth) in maintaining a healthy smile?
• Why is it important for my dentist to know my health history and prescriptions?

By prioritizing your oral health, you can take great strides toward improving your total health today.

Recent studies have shown that good oral health care is vital to long-term COVID-19 management. According to the CDC, patients with certain medical conditions like diabetes, asthma, liver disease, and obesity are more likely to get severely ill if diagnosed with coronavirus.

Did you know that these, and many other chronic diseases have a direct link to oral disease? This month’s article on the oral-systemic connection teaches us that inflammation and bacteria in your mouth can spread through your bloodstream. Make no mistake: what happens in the mouth does not stay in the mouth.

Did you know that while dentists and other team members are at the highest risk for COVID spread, they are not suffering a higher rate of transmission?

This proves that the protocols work! A study by the American Dental Association found that the rate of COVID-19 infection among dentists was less than 1%, far lower than that of other healthcare workers. Dentists have always been experts regarding infection control. While COVID-19 presents us with a new challenge, we are proud to say that our implemented safety measures have met this challenge successfully.

In fact, we sometimes joke that she sleeps at the office. Her kind heart comes through in her willingness to help our patients & us with what ever we need. We always know we can depend on her. Wonderful professionals and very helpful folks. Came to this practice in Oct. 2013 and have enjoyed my experience. Dr. Kasper and her great team has made a ton of difference in my dental health. I would highly recommend this practice... in a heart beat.
