Social Security dependents’ or survivors’ benefits normally end when a child reaches age 18, or age 19 if the child is a full time student. If the young adult is disabled, however, the benefits can continue as long as the recipient is disabled.

DID YOU KNOW…….
The SSA processes Military Casualty/Wounded Warrior (MC/WW) cases under expedited procedures similar to TERI (but does not classify them as TERI cases without the indication of terminal illness).
If you are a wounded veteran or active duty service member who became disabled while on active duty it is to your advantage to let SSA know you have that MC/WW status since wounded warrior cases are evaluated more quickly than might otherwise be the case.

Submitting a claim and being approved for disability benefits from the Social Security Administration is a multi-step process that can be both challenging and confusing.
Only about one-third of claims are approved at the initial level and must be appealed within 60 days of the date of your denial notice.
Having a qualified disability representative help navigate your claim through the complexities of the disability determination process will make your experience much less frustrating.
