FROM DR. ELLIOT SHIN:
Re: Impact of COVID-19 on your participation in clinical studies

Dear Patients of JCR,

We are all dealing with the day-to day impact of the COVID-19 virus and learning to cope with rapidly changing instructions about how we should behave. While participating in a clinical study may not be top of mind for you right now when we all have so many adjustments to make in life, I wanted to write to you to let you know what steps we have taken to reduce the risk of you becoming infected at our clinic.
Protecting your safety and welfare is our number one priority. You make our work possible. We could not bring new drugs to the patients who need them without the support and goodwill of people like you who volunteer for our studies. During your participation in our studies we help protect your safety by speaking with you to understand how you are doing, reviewing any changes in your health or medications, and gathering other information during your scheduled visits. We will do everything we can to make you feel safe and comfortable while visiting the clinic for your scheduled appointments. We are also working with the pharmaceutical companies on creative alternatives to meet your study needs and will contact you with any updates.

We have taken a number of steps to ensure your safety:
• We have increased cleaning of all common surfaces at our clinic and have switched to a high-grade cleaner such as you normally find at hospitals.
• All staff are practicing the highest levels of hygiene, including washing their hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds.
• All patients who arrive at our clinic with any symptoms of the flu or COVID-19 are being checked by our staff before they are allowed to enter the clinic.
• Our staff and patients are observing distancing protocols as far practicable.
• We are constantly reviewing the advice of local and federal health agencies and ensuring we follow best practices.
Please let us know what else we can do to help you keep your scheduled appointments.

Our number one priority is making our patients feel safe and comfortable. If there is anything else we can do to adjust your visit to make you feel more comfortable at our clinic then please just call us and let us know ahead of your appointment.

Yours sincerely,

Elliot Shin, MD, MS, CPI
