Why is it so important for women to
strength train?
Lets face it...
Many of us women focus most of our efforts
at the gym on cardio thinking it'll help us burn
the most calories, burn the most fat and
stay fit.
BUT...is that even true?!?
Not at all. In fact....
There are several super important reasons we
shouldn't ignore strength training...and actually,
it should be the most important part of our
workout plans!
Reason 1: It'll actually help us burn MORE calories in the long run.
First of all, When you strength train you're building
muscle and getting your heart-pumping cardio in at the same time!
Also, don't forget that our lovely toned muscles work over time for us!
That's right! Muscles burn calories even while you're at rest.
Reason 2: It'll give you that toned look you're going for!
Building lean toned muscle will not only help us reduce our body
measurements faster (and fit into those skinny jeans quicker!), it
also helps us look much better with or without clothes on!
Cardio on its own doesn't do much to build lean toned muscle. In
fact, focusing only on cardio can make a woman look like a skinny
waif. Curves are womanly, and muscle tone will make you look
shapely, fit and sexy.
Reason 3: Strong body, strong bones!
As most of us know, women begin to lose bone density starting
at about age 30! The best way to prevent this damage? Strength
training!
Lifting weights also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, high blood pressure and bad cholesterol. It also decreases
stress and anxiety and helps boost the immune system.
