Reuniting families with a loved one who was missing! Great work Corporal Miller and K-9 Buster! Find'em Scent Safe www.findemscentsafe.com

On 3-16-19 Corporal Miller and K9 Buster were called to assist the Hernando County Sheriffs Office with a missing 9 year old call. The boy had run away from home and after about 3 hours of searching, Hernando Co requested the Bloodhound. Buster was deployed and able to track the subject to a nearby house, where he was located unharmed.

Dedication, commitment and a passion to serve are critical elements of what it takes to make an effective Dog/Handler team. Rigorous hours of training between the dog and handler is where it begins. Then, the true training happens as the dog and handler learn what it takes to trail and track successfully.
It is in these early exercises that the importance of a good scent article becomes apparent. The better the scent article, the easier chance for the dog to distinguish and follow the scent.
Today, these highly skilled trainers are assisting the dog teams who are tested yearly for certification. “Dog and Handler Certification” is the benchmark for dog teams in California, the United States and across the globe. Certifications are paramount when selecting a qualified trailing, tracking or search and rescue team. This is ground-zero for operations ranging from criminal apprehension to missing persons resolution when using a dog/handler team.
Helicopters are often used in searches and the Dog/Handler teams need to be able to board and disembark the helicopter. This testing familiarizes the dog and the handler with the helicopter, so it does not hinder either in times of emergency. Handlers learn to help their dogs on and off the aircraft, be able to travel quickly, and have the dog team ready to deploy when needed.
