Awakening is not easy.
If you ask me about my past, I will tell you that every piece of it was necessary to bring me to where I am today. The grief. The loss. The pain. The unraveling. All of it expanded my capacity to understand compassion, forgiveness, surrender, and ultimately myself.
But if you ask me whether I believe I deserved what happened during the most vulnerable chapter of my life, the answer is no.
When I was going through my awakening, when everything I understood about myself and my life was falling apart, I needed love, safety, curiosity and support.
Instead, there were moments when I was judged, mocked, misunderstood, attacked, and abandoned by some of the people I believed would stand beside me. Family. My partner. Even friends.
That was one of the most devastating parts of the journey.
And yet, I can hold two truths at once: I did not deserve the pain, and I am profoundly grateful for the woman it required me to become.
Forgiveness has not meant pretending it didn’t hurt. It has meant refusing to allow what happened to harden my heart.
My awakening stripped away so much…but it also returned me to myself.
And today, I choose to take what once broke my heart and turn it into wisdom, compassion, purpose, and service.
