Iowa ACC Women In Cardiology Event.mp4

In December 2019 we had a very successful event in the QC area for High School girls. This was done as part of our commitment to introduce young women to our field. We hope to follow this with many more in various areas of our state. Unfortunately due to the COVID pandemic, get-togethers like this one will not be possible for a while. But we stay committed to the cause and continue our activities via non-face to face platforms!

The ACC continues to stress the need for more personal protective equipment (PPE) and other critical supplies to enable caregivers to safely help patients on the front lines, along with continued telehealth flexibility; liability protection for clinicians during this public health emergency; and essential support for the medical workforce, practices, and institutions to maintain patient access. ACC leaders have been hard at work carrying these same messages to the president and vice president, the administration and members of Congress. ACC Announces New Dates for ACC.21 in Atlanta!

The ACC is excited to announce new dates for its 70th Annual Scientific Session & Expo in Atlanta, GA. The three-day meeting will now take place from May 15 – 17, 2021. “With continued uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, our hope is that the new dates will allow more people to attend in person and take advantage of the opportunity to reimagine global heart health, refocus on science and reconnect with friends and colleagues,” said ACC President Athena Poppas, MD, FACC. ACC.21 leaders and staff are working hard to ensure a safe environment with the latest health and safety guidelines in place. Additionally, an engaging ACC.21 Virtual experience will allow cardiovascular clinicians who are unable to attend in person to participate real-time with a global audience. Visit the ACC.21 website for answers to FAQs and ongoing updates on key dates and announcements. Registration and abstract submissions will open in October.

This year’s conference will provide the inside scoop on regulatory changes, legislative action and the current state of cardiology. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear directly from the experts who shape health policy and virtually meet with congressional leaders to share ways the cardiovascular community continues to work on the front lines providing quality, cost-effective, evidence-based care to millions of patients. CardioSmart Debuts New Website for Patients, Clinicians

ACC’s new CardioSmart website is designed to emphasize the value of the patient and clinician partnership to personalize care. With the goal of better connecting patients with their clinicians to prevent or treat heart disease, the new CardioSmart.org provides information on heart conditions and trusted resources and tools to support important health conversations and foster a strong partnership. “Our new website is user-friendly, for both health care professionals and patients. Clinicians can refer patients, and patients can effortlessly find the information they need to aid in making key health decisions,” said Martha Gulati, MD, FACC, editor-in-chief of CardioSmart. “We continue to evolve and develop the resources our members want for our patients, be an up-to-date reliable source for everyone and improve the ease with which everyone can access information, whether from a clinic setting or at home.” Learn more at https://www.acc.org/latest-in-cardiology/articles/2020/07/27/14/42/cardiosmart-debuts-new-website-for-patients-clinicians
