Stop rushing your backbends! 🐢✨When it comes to poses like Shalabasana (Locust Pose), I prefer to take it slow. This step-by-step approach isn’t just for fun—it’s a targeted way to: ✅ Create space between each vertebra (disc-friendly!) ✅ Strengthen the muscles that combat forward head posture ✅ Gently address thoracic kyphosis

This is the ‘Unwind your Spine’ way: building strength with intention, not intensity.Want to learn how to move with this level of detail? Join my live class this Saturday at 9 AM PT.🔗 Link in bio to register and join us.

Not all Bridge Poses are created equal. ☁️✨In restorative practice, we aren’t looking for a ‘workout’—we’re looking for a ‘landing pad.’ When I use a bolster for Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, I ensure it supports the entire length of the spine: from the sacrum through the mid-back.
Pro-tip: I always keep my knees bent and feet on the floor. This is a game-changer for the lower back, as it releases the psoas and prevents lumbar compression. It’s the perfect antidote to a day spent sitting with rounded shoulders.

Parker and I are already prepping for tomorrow night’s Rest & Release class! Come join us to learn how to set up your own sanctuary.🗓 Tuesday | 7:00 PM PT 💰 $15 | Online via Zoom 🔗 Link in bio to save your spot!

Forward folds are often contraindicated for those with osteoporosis or disc issues—but that doesn’t mean you have to skip the benefits of a long spine and hamstring release. 🧘‍♀️In this video, I’m showing you the ‘how-to’ for a chair-supported fold that protects your bones and your discs. This is a core pillar of how we practice in my ‘Unwind your Spine’ community.Want a deeper dive? I’ve just released a full ‘Osteoporosis safe Yoga’ guide on my YouTube channel (link in bio). And for those who want real-time, guided support, I’d love to have you in my live class this Saturday at 9 AM PT. We focus on these modifications every single week so you can move with confidence.

Building a nest for the nervous system. 🕊️There is a big difference between a stretch and a rest. When we support our forward folds with bolsters and blankets, we stop the body from bracing and allow the mind to fully settle.I love this variation for quieting the mind and releasing the muscles around the spine. Plus, the room is extra cozy with Parker napping nearby. 🐾

If you have a sensitive back, you might be avoiding strengthening poses out of fear. But here’s the truth: your spine needs support to stay healthy, and that support comes from the muscles around it! 🛡️This is my go-to, back-friendly strengthener. By focusing on a neutral pelvis and engaging the core, we build the stability needed to protect our discs while creating heat in the body. It’s not about how deep you go; it’s about how much support you can create for your own spine.Want to feel 10x better and stronger?

Full forward folds can be hard on the lumbar spine, especially if you’re managing herniated or bulging discs. In this video, I’m showing you the ‘how’—how to use a chair to move safely into Parsvottanasana (Pyramid Pose). By using the chair, you can access that deep hamstring stretch while keeping your spine long and your discs protected.I assume everyone in my community has a sensitive back, which is why we only practice modifications that keep the spine safe and supported.

Did you know your psoas is often the first place your body stores stress? 🧠📉
When we face tension in the mind, the psoas tends to grip and go into spasm, which directly pulls on your lower back. This is why a gentle, supported Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I) with a chair is a total game-changer for releasing that deep-seated tension. It’s all about creating support so your nervous system can finally let go.I’m teaching more ways to unlock your back and psoas in my ‘Unwind your Spine’ class this Saturday at 9 AM PST.

🪑 Yoga for Bone Health: A Gentle Way to Unwind Your Spine

Living with osteoporosis or osteopenia can make finding a safe yoga practice feel overwhelming. You might worry about balance or the intensity of certain poses. I hear you—and I’ve built a practice specifically for you.

My new class, Unwind Your Spine, is a chair-supported session designed for stability, gentle movement, and nervous-system calming. No deep twist , no risky folds, just a supportive space to release tension and breathe.

In this session, we focus on: ✅ Maintaining a neutral, spine-safe alignment. ✅ Using the chair as a "safety anchor" for improved balance. ✅ Breath-led movement to shift from stress to deep relaxation.

🧘‍♀️ Watch the full practice here: https://youtu.be/mAKOnWxvZKI?si=h7uL91sAeDHhSFlT

If you enjoy this, I invite you to join my Saturday morning community sessions live at 9 AM PT. Let’s move together with care. DM for the link.
