📍Introduction
Hi, my name is Sara Kim!
I completed my undergraduate studies in General Music at the University of Louisville, and went on to earn my DMD degree from Rutgers University.
I applied to dental school as an international student with a non-science major, so if you’re a non-U.S. citizen or someone with an unconventional background interested in U.S. dental schools, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to share my experience!
I enjoy spending quality time with the people I love, reading books, and listening to jazz and classical music.
Recently, I’ve been trying to get back into baking desserts. 🧁
💬 What made you join the Pre-Dental Mentorship Program?
KADA is all about connection, community, and giving back—and I think the Pre-Dental Mentorship Program reflects that heart really well.
When I was applying to dental school, I had very few friends in dentistry—but their presence made all the difference.
Their encouragement and guidance gave me the clarity and confidence to prepare for the application process, even when I wasn’t sure if it was realistic for someone like me.
I hope this program can offer that kind of support to others—especially those who are navigating this path on their own.
💬 What do you think is the most fun/unique part of our mentorship program?
This program is led by dentists and dental specialists, which makes it truly unique.
More than anything, it’s a group of people who genuinely care about the next generation of dental professionals—
so when it comes to support, there‘s no question. It’s built into the heart of what we do.
💬 Advice for Pre-Dental Students
When I was applying to dental school, even people I got along with said I wouldn’t make it.
But I’ve learned that if you truly seek opportunities, they do come.
I knew it would be a tough path—and it was.
But I also knew that if I made it, I’d truly love this profession.
And I was right 😊
Don’t be afraid to take that first step, even if others don’t believe in you yet.
