The Osborne Head & Neck Foundation embarks on a medical mission to Belize, bringing specialized care, hope, and the opportunity for lives to be transformed.
At the time, Belize was experiencing an outbreak of Zika virus, a mosquito-borne illness that was generally mild but carried serious risks. The health concerns prevented some volunteers from making the trip, but a dedicated team of surgeons, surgical assistants, and clinical and administrative volunteers stepped forward to help those in need.
The extreme heat and humidity added another challenge, but the team remained committed to providing head and neck, ear, tumor, and pediatric care to patients who otherwise may not have had access to specialized treatment.
Most importantly, we were met with tremendous gratitude from the people of Belize. Their warmth, generosity, and appreciation reminded us why these missions matter and why we continue to bring specialized care to communities around the world.
