The Temple. Treat your body like Temple for Your Soul that it is. Think about it: at the Ancient Temple they conducted- not just prayer (actually, most prayers were composed after the destruction of the Ancient Temple in Jerusalem). They also held holiday celebrations and most importantly, live sacrifices on Holy Days. (They also cleansed their own bodies by fasting periodically & periodically denying themselves of certain physical pleasures including sex, the wearing of fragrant oils and more.) What they also had were rituals; rituals for celebration (parties, dare I say), rituals for cleansing after the parties, and most important: special rituals for cleansing the Temple after the sacrifice. But they didn’t party every day, they didn’t conduct sacrifices every day. How can YOU apply those principles to how (and what) you eat, how you exercise and most importantly how you live and the purpose you put forth in your life? Some questions to ponder. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
For the #noncyclists💙💙💙 who ask how #roadcycling riders can be #courageous enough to ride with traffic: 1. Visibility: I use day-flashers front & back. 2. Don’t take any sh*t! If there’s not enough room for me AND 2 cars to EASILY occupy the street with space to spear, I do something MOST drivers dislike but is perfectly legal: I behave like the VEHICLE that I am & take up the entire lane. You are perfectly capable of slowing down for the approximately 6 seconds it takes for the 2 or 3 cars going the other way to pass. Then I pull over to the side & wave; telling you “Thank You & it’s now safe to pass.” I make it so that you’d have to CHOOSE to hit me. I have confidence that you’re not an asshole. If I did NOT do this when the bike lane is adequate I would wind up in a ditch or splattered or the ground. Neither of those choices are acceptable to me. 🥺 3. I make sure to show my appreciation to #drivers with a Thank You wave when you have the opportunity to cut me off (you know you could sneak that turn in before I DIE) but choose to do the right thing, and other things of that ilk. 4. I put out a constant vibe that 99% of drivers are polite, humane, peace loving & wish me no harm. 5. While I live in #4 above, it doesn’t make me less cautious or aware. I ride with an outrageously large rear view mirror that allows me to see all around me so I can take appropriate evasive action. (While I do everything I can NOT to wind up in ditch, I AM nonetheless aware that, at times, it’s superior to the alternative. As I move towards my 70th birthday in a couple of years, I still look forward to many more years of cycling. 🚵🏽♀️😘🙏🚵🏽♀️😎
