“I’m not really an athlete.”

We hear that more often than you might think.

But somewhere along the way, the word *athlete* became synonymous with elite competitors, heavy weights, and impressive finish lines.

We see it differently.

If you're showing up for your workouts, getting your miles in, taking that group fitness class, or simply investing in a stronger, more capable version of yourself...

You're an athlete in our book.

You don't need to compete. You don't need a certain physique. And you certainly don't need to be the strongest person in the room.

You just need to care about what your body can do.

At Linchpin Performance, we work with people who take their health, movement, and longevity seriously. Not because they're all elite athletes, but because they have a life they want to keep showing up for.

Our standard of care is high. The barrier to belonging isn't.

That's what performance physical therapy means to us.

Different by design.

When we built Linchpin Performance, the goal was never to simply do physical therapy a little better.

We wanted to rethink the entire experience.

What if your provider actually had the time to listen, investigate, and understand the bigger picture?

What if care wasn't just about getting you out of pain, but building the capacity to keep doing what you love for years to come?

What if your healthcare was as intentional as the effort you put into your training, career, and life?

That's what we've set out to build.

One-on-one care. Uncompromised attention. A proactive approach to long-term performance.

Not different for the sake of being different.

Different because we believe the standard should be higher.

That's Linchpin Performance.

Dr. Emily’s full time schedule opens Tuesday 9/22!

Let’s welcome her properly!

———

I’m Emily— a physical therapist with over 20 years of experience in orthopedics and sports medicine.
I aim to look beyond just symptoms to help people understand their bodies, move better, and build lifelong resilience.

I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University in 2006. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), CrossFit L1 coach, and have advanced training in sports manual therapy, dry needling, Olympic weightlifting, and pelvic health.

I grew up as a competitive gymnast and, after becoming a mom, returned to fitness when I fell in love with CrossFit. I strive to lead from the front as a provider who understands the demands of an active lifestyle—and how much being able to move, perform, and feel your best can impact your life.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and two boys, connecting with friends, and coaching. We’ll always be a family with an English bulldog, a garden, and a travel plan!

If you spend enough time around Louisville runners, you’ll eventually find your way to Linchpin Performance.

We were honored to support athletes at the 2nd Annual MadFit Summer 5K this weekend at Seneca Park.

Big thanks to for creating an incredible event and an even better community.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of helping runners across Louisville navigate injuries, return to training, prepare for races, and perform at a higher level.

So when race day comes around, seeing familiar faces at the starting line, and on our treatment table, is a pretty special thing.

This community means a lot to us.

We’ll keep doing our part to help Louisville runners stay healthy, durable, and moving forward.

See you at the next race.

Is your physical therapist actually “about” it?
Our team trains like the people we serve and that changes everything.

Dave monologue here:

I completed the KDF 1/2 marathon last weekend.
It’s been about 11 years since I’ve run over 1-2 miles. I got the running itch again, and I honestly wanted something objectively tough to train towards.

I had run the KDF mini 2x before in the past, but wow! was it a rough transition to start running further distances again.

I started training in January, then had a scare of a stress reaction in my foot mid February. I was doing too good of a job shutting my mind off towards pain, and my bodies whispers turned into screams…

Thankfully a few weeks of rest (and a lot of special attention from Dr Devin and Dee) helped me get back on track…

Race Day was complicated. With traffic, I got to the start line almost 20 min late (they were shutting it down!). My warm up consisted of car seat warmers and a 2 block full bladder power walk.

Pacing was way too fast for the first 2 miles, but I ended up hitting solid stride between miles 2-7. Miles 7-10 were ok, mostly because I broke out my gummy bears. Miles 10-13 was nothing short of a grind. Pace dropped a bit and I felt like my calf was on the verge of doing something not good over the last mile.

All in all, I was happy that I finished well. The goal was to discipline and train my body to run 13 miles. We did it.

The race was more of a celebration of the training that took place which allowed my body to endure.

I’m thankful for my team in helping put me back together and often yelling at me to stretch / warm up / etc….and thankful for my family enduring the time sacrifices training and recovering requires.

October’s Urban Bourbon might be in the cards… We’ll see.

Childbirth can leave women with real injuries to their pelvic floor.

And often quietly accepted as ‘normal’.

Yet pelvic floor physical therapy, one of the most effective treatments available, can often be immediately dismissed as “too expensive” and “unnecessary.”

If men experienced comparable issues there would be zero debate about whether treatment was “worth it.”

PFPT helps restore strength, coordination, and confidence so women can return to running, lifting, training and living comfortably in their bodies again.

At Linchpin Performance, our pelvic health specialists work with active women who want their bodies to perform well in life, sport, and relationships.

If something doesn’t feel right after having kids, you don’t have to just live with it.

You’re worth it.

Jump Rope & Your Pelvic Floor

Our friends at are focusing on double unders this month, so Dr. Dee teamed up with Coach to talk about something many athletes don’t think about:

How jump rope impacts the pelvic floor.

Jumping, rebounding, and repeated ground contact create pressure through the core and pelvic floor. With the right breathing strategy, posture, and timing, your body can manage that load much more efficiently.

In this video we break down:• Common technique mistakes• How to coordinate breathing with jumping• Ways to reduce unnecessary pelvic floor strain

Whether you’re chasing your first double under or stacking hundreds in a workout, technique matters.

If jumping, running, or workouts are bringing on leaking, pressure, or discomfort, it’s worth addressing.

Our pelvic health team at Linchpin Performance helps active women train confidently without avoiding the things they love.

Shoutout to our partners at Burn Boot Camp for letting us nerd out on movement with their community.

If this is something you’ve been dealing with, send us a message or book a free discovery call to see if we can help.

If you’re an active woman dealing with leaking, pressure, discomfort, or loss of control during workouts or daily life, this video will walk you through exactly what a pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation looks like at Linchpin Performance.

We work with fitness-forward women who train, live full lives, and expect real answers not to be told that symptoms are “normal” or something you just have to work around.

In this video, we explain what happens during your 75-minute, one-on-one pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation, including how we assess:

Movement and breathing mechanics

Pressure management

Pelvic floor coordination with the rest of your body

Training, stress, and daily demands

This is not a rushed appointment or a one-size-fits-all approach. By the end of your first visit, you’ll leave with clarity and understanding why your symptoms are happening and what it will take to fix them, not just manage them.

If you’re a runner, lifter, or active mom looking to feel strong, confident, and back in control of your body, pelvic floor physical therapy can be a powerful next step.
