Breast cancer awareness also means understanding what can happen after treatment. 🎀

Surgery involving lymph nodes and radiation therapy can increase the risk of lymphedema. Changes may include swelling in the arm, hand, or chest, or a feeling of heaviness, fullness, or tightness.

These changes deserve attention. If you notice something new, speak with your healthcare team rather than waiting for it to become more noticeable.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎀

At Lymph Therapeutics, this month holds a very personal meaning. Our co-founder, Renee Masella, is a breast cancer survivor, making this cause especially close to our hearts.

We stand with those currently facing breast cancer, celebrate survivors, honor those we have lost, and recognize the families and caregivers walking alongside them.

Breast cancer treatment can also affect the lymphatic system, which is why continued education and awareness around lymphedema is so important.

This month, we’re also offering our Lymph Therapeutics Breast Cancer Awareness hoodies for $35 as another way to wear your support and help raise awareness. 🎀

Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a central pump like the heart. Muscle contractions and body movement help support the movement of lymphatic fluid.

Gentle activities such as walking, stretching, ankle pumps, and therapist-recommended exercises can be an important part of supporting lymphatic health and managing swelling.

The right movement looks different for everyone, especially when living with lymphedema or other medical conditions. Our therapists provide individualized education and treatment strategies based on each patient’s needs.
