My favorite part of hosting retreats has always been witnessing transformation.
There's something about watching a woman arrive carrying everything life has placed on her shoulders, knowing that over the next few days, some of those things may finally have room to surface.
I think about that every time I guide someone into an ice bath.
Before they ever touch the water, there's fear. Real, primal fear. The body anticipates the cold, the breath changes, and suddenly the mind has a hundred questions.
Can I do this? Can I handle what's about to happen?
And then comes the moment that matters.
Not the moment they step in. Not the moment they step out feeling on top of the world.
It's everything that happens in between.
It's finding their breath when every instinct wants to fight. It's discovering that they can meet an uncomfortable sensation without immediately running from it.
And I'm right there beside them. Breathing with them. Reminding them that they're supported, that they have choices, and that they don't have to navigate the experience alone.
That's what I love about Wounded, Wild & Worthy.
We don't always get to choose what life brings us. But we can learn how to meet ourselves in the middle of it. We can discover that we're capable of more than fear would have us believe, and that receiving support doesn't make us any less strong.
And this experience extends far beyond an ice bath. It's in our time with horses, our conversations around the table, the quiet moments of reflection, the laughter, the tears, and the courage it takes to let ourselves be seen.
Sometimes transformation happens in those quiet, difficult moments when something inside us shifts.
The other side is beautiful. But it's what happens in between that changes us.
Our second annual Wounded, Wild & Worthy Women's Retreat is coming to the Texas Hill Country, January 13–17, 2027.
Five days of equine connection, somatic experiences, nourishing meals, nature, rest, and meaningful community, with guided connection before and after we gather.
If something in these words speaks to where you are in life, I'd love to invite you to be part of it.
