I’m happy to announce that the first 8-week live, in-person, Mindful Leadership Training of 2021 is now open for summer registration!

It’s based on the MBCT framework created by Dr. Mark Williams at the University of Oxford, and the MBSR framework created by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and is interwoven with cutting-edge brain science from Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett at Northeastern University.

In our homes, our schools, and in the workplace, well-being is now a top national priority for the prosperity and competitiveness of our country.

Mindfulness plays a vital role in three keyways:

1. In our stability-- knowing where our ground is in the midst of everything that's happening
2. In clear seeing-- our ability to distinguish fact from fiction
3. In kindness to ourselves and others, especially where the conditions are often not

Of course, mindfulness is not the only way through, but we know that the more people who develop the vital leadership skills, the more resilient our workplaces and communities become.

Will you join me in this mission to help end the epidemic of anxiety and burnout?

Those of you who have taken the training and have started living with greater peace, who are more confident and calmer, who have changed jobs, transformed your relationships, or begun pursuing your passion... you are all testaments to the power of the teachings.

One of the biggest predictors of a couple’s success is having one person who can offer the olive branch and another who can accept it. Remember that ending the fight doesn’t mean that the issue is resolved. It means at least one person has the maturity and good will to lower the intensity and help create a calmer emotional climate so that the conversation can continue at a later time.

Stress reducing foods we love ❤️

In a recent study published in MDPI, the effects of taking cocoa flavanols on stress-induced changes on vascular function were studied. In the study, 30 healthy men took a cocoa flavanol beverage an hour and a half before a stressful task and found that flavanols are effective at counteracting mental stress-induced endothelial dysfunction and improving peripheral blood flow during stress. ⁣⁣

Meaning, a diet that’s flavanol-rich can protect our vascular health during stress.⁣⁣

You can incorporate cocoa into your diet by adding it into smoothies, hot beverages, or eating some dark chocolate that’s low in sugar. ⁣⁣

Self-Awareness Can Help Leaders More Than an MBA Can

“Approximately 40% of CEOs are MBAs. Many large-scale studies have found that leadership based solely on MBA-trained logic is not always enough for delivering long-term financial and cultural results, and that it is often detrimental to an organization’s productivity. In one study, researchers compared the organizational performance of 440 CEOs who had been celebrated on the covers of magazines like BusinessWeek, Fortune, and Forbes. The researchers split the CEOs into two groups — those with an MBA and those without one — and then monitored their performance for up to seven years. Surprisingly, the performance of those with an MBA was significantly worse. Another study, published in the Journal of Business Ethics, looked at the results of more than 5,000 CEOs and came to a similar conclusion.”
