📢 Important Medicaid Rate Update
Effective Dates
North Carolina Medicaid has announced a rate increase for certain eligible services under applicable Medicaid waiver programs.
Implementation date: October 1, 2026
Retroactive effective date: July 1, 2026
Payment Increase
Eligible services may receive an increase of:
$0.30 per 15-minute billing unit
$1.20 per hour for services billed at four units per hour
Affected Services
The increase may apply to:
Residential Supports
Community Living and Supports
Day Supports
Respite
Supported Employment
Supported Living
Community Networking
Direct-Care Worker Support
The additional reimbursement is intended to support eligible direct-care workers through:
Increased wages
Employee benefits
Related payroll costs
Provider Actions
Provider agencies may be required to:
Review applicable state and payer guidance
Confirm service eligibility and implementation requirements
Submit a wage-increase attestation to the appropriate Local Management Entity/Managed Care Organization (LME/MCO)
Maintain required documentation
Review retroactive payment procedures

New Beginnings Alliance LLC is reviewing the requirements and coordinating with the appropriate LME/MCO to confirm eligibility, implementation procedures, retroactive payment information, and required documentation.
Final implementation and reimbursement remain subject to official North Carolina Medicaid guidance and applicable payer instructions.
