In 2018, a group of Dutch nuns released their very first w**e. Within just one month, their entire first production had sold out.

The sisters belong to Sint-Catharinadal, a convent in Oosterhout, the Netherlands, with over 750 years of history.

For centuries, the nuns supported themselves through traditional crafts such as book restoration and calligraphy. But as demand for these services declined, they needed a new way to keep their historic convent financially sustainable.

Their solution? Start making w**e.

Under the leadership of Prioress Maria Magdalena, the sisters planted approximately 35,300 vines across 7.5 hectares of land, with help from a professional w**emaker and volunteers.

Today, their vineyard helps preserve the oldest continuously existing independent community of nuns in the Netherlands, founded in 1271.
