So today in church we had a lesson on family history. While listening, I logged into my account on familysearch.org to follow the presentation. The presenter mentioned how his family had traced their lineage back to the 11th century. I had noted recently that I had one line traced that got into royalty and went back to the 600s at least, so I decided to look at that. Wanting to see how far back it would go. In each generation, I picked the individual who looked the most prominent, thinking that would go back the furthest. I found several kings along the way. Then I discovered that line going back to Caesar Claudius, 4th Roman emperor - no kidding! I snapped a screen shot and then made a record of all the links in between so I could find it again,
Caesar Claudius (full name Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus) was the emperor who expanded the emperor into the British Isles, and some of his descendants went there, which is where a quarter of my ancestors are from. He was also the grandson of Mark Antony. Caesar Claudius is my 59th great grandfather, and Mark Antony is my 61st.
