They told her to slow down.

But she wasn't finished discovering what she could do.

Getting older changes things. Our bodies change. Recovery changes. Priorities change.

But that doesn't mean we stop building strength, endurance, mobility, and confidence.

We're not training to be 25 again.

We're training to keep doing the things we love at 50, 60, 70, and beyond.

Because the goal isn't simply to live longer.

It's to have the capacity to LIVE.

What is one thing you want your body to still be capable of doing 20 years from now?

We've become very good at filling our calendars.

More responsibilities. More commitments. More goals. More things to accomplish.

But when did being busy become the measure of a successful life?

I'm ambitious. I have big goals, and I have no intention of slowing down simply because I'm getting older.

But I've also realized something important.

I don't want to build a life so full of obligations that there's no room left to actually live it.

That's why capacity matters to me.

I want the strength to take on new challenges. The energy to travel and explore. The ability to pursue extraordinary goals while still enjoying ordinary moments with the people I love.

And just as importantly, I want the freedom to say no.

Because building capacity isn't about doing everything.

It's about having the ability to do more without feeling obligated to do it all.

A capable life gives you options.

And to me, that's a beautiful kind of freedom.

Let me ask you something: Are you building a life with more freedom, or simply more responsibilities?

Somewhere along the way, we started treating exhaustion like an accomplishment.

As if the more we sacrifice, the more disciplined we must be.

But I've come to see discipline differently.

I don't train because I enjoy making life harder. I train because I want the strength and capacity to experience more of it.

I don't protect my sleep, recovery, or routines because I'm obsessed with rules. I protect them because my health, my ambitions, and the people I love matter to me.

And I don't believe pursuing extraordinary goals means every ordinary day has to feel like a punishment.

Discipline isn't about proving how much you can endure. It's about protecting what makes your life worth living.

Sometimes that means pushing harder. Sometimes it means knowing when to stop.

Both require discipline.

So here's a question worth asking: Are your habits helping you protect the life you want, or are they making that life harder to enjoy?

I'm a firm believer in high standards. In discipline. In doing difficult things. In expecting more from myself.

But I don't believe excellence requires making every part of life difficult.

You can train hard and enjoy a slow morning. Build something extraordinary and protect your peace. Be ambitious and still make room for dinner dates, laughter, and doing absolutely nothing.

Discipline should create freedom, not become another form of confinement.

The goal isn't to lower your standards. It's to build a life where those standards actually serve you.

Because what good is an extraordinary life if you're too exhausted to enjoy it?

A stronger tomorrow isn’t built in one dramatic moment.

It’s built in the ordinary choices we make today—the workout we finish, the promise we keep to ourselves, the thing we learn, the boundary we hold, the work we do when no one is watching.

I’m not interested in becoming younger.

I’m interested in becoming stronger, more capable, more curious, and more alive with every year I get.

Today counts. 🤍

I’m not trying to fit my life into one box.
I’m a wife. A mother. A cat mom. An athlete. An entrepreneur. A food lover. A student. A teacher. And someone with a very real dream of living a capable epic life.

I love contradictions, too.
Soft + strong.
Private + ambitious.
Traditional + rebellious.
Homebody + explorer.
Athlete + executive.
Structure + a little chaos.
And I'm still building.
I'm training, learning, experimenting, chasing big goals, changing my mind, making mistakes and figuring out what I want the next chapters of my life to look like.

Somewhere along the way, fitness stopped being about simply being fit.
I started thinking about capacity.
I want the strength to carry things.
The endurance to explore.
The energy to be present with the people I love.
The freedom to travel.
The resilience to handle hard seasons.
And a body capable of supporting everything else I still want to do.
Because I don't believe life has to get smaller as we get older.
I want mine to get fuller.

That's what you'll find here: training, food, business, family, cats, travel, restaurants, personal style, big goals, occasional failures—and probably a fair amount of overthinking.

I'm Shauna. Welcome to my world. 💙

Let's see what we're capable of.

If you’re new here, start here. 🤍
I’m Shauna Strand—and I’m interested in something much bigger than simply being “fit.”

I want to know what it takes to build a life where we remain strong, capable, curious and fully engaged as the years move forward.

Yes, we’ll talk about training, nutrition and taking care of our bodies.
But we’ll also talk about mindset, faith, family, relationships, business, food, travel, hospitality, big goals—and actually enjoying the life we're working so hard to build.

Because I don't believe the goal is to chase youth.

The goal is capacity.
The capacity to move.
To carry.
To explore.
To work.
To create.
To love.
To experience.
To take on something difficult.
And to keep participating fully in your own life.

I'm building this alongside you—learning, testing, growing and occasionally changing my mind when the evidence tells me to.

This is The Strand Life.

People. Progress. Real life.
And the pursuit of becoming capable of more.
Welcome. 💙
