Founded in 1985, IASE members reside in 48 countries and include teachers, teacher trainers, professors, speech clinicians, psychologists, health care providers, social workers, counselors, family members and those associat

The mission of IASE is to:
Promote awareness and understanding of issues and developments related to the education and welfare of individuals with special needs throughout the world;
Promote professional exchange between professionals in special education, family members and individuals in related disciplines internationally;
Encourage and promote research to advance the field of special education and share that information through official publications;
Promote continuing education in special education; and,
Work collaboratively with other special education organizations for worldwide promotion of the interests of individuals with special needs.

There are 2 more weeks to submit proposals for the IASE conference in Vietnam in July 2022. While the COVID situation is not resolved yet, we are hopeful that by next Summer, we will be able to get together in person and move the field of international special and inclusive education forward.

So happy for my colleague, Tom Donaghy, who has been the managing editor for the Journal of the International Association of Special Education (JIASE) for several years. A well-deserved award!
ICI's Tom Donaghy received the 2021 Jeanne T. Lupton CS/BU Outstanding Service Award from the University of Minnesota’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). Named in honor of Jeanne T. Lupton, Dean of General College (1979–86), this award recognizes outstanding service to the CEHD and to the University of Minnesota by CEHD Civil Service/Bargaining Unit staff. Congratulations, Tom!

We are accepting self-nominations from members of IASE for the new board whose term will begin on January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2023. Your self-nomination request should include a letter of interest describing past involvement with different IASE committees or the IASE board, prior experiences that align with the IASE mission/vision, and duties of the elected position. You will submit a copy of your updated CV/Resume and also complete the google form via link [https://forms.gle/txS156BPcs3dayVY6]. Information describing the roles and responsibilities associated with each board position can be found on the IASE website [https://www.iase.org/iase-documents].

We would like to highlight the work of Connect Autism Tanzania (CAT), a non-profit organization aiming to improve the quality life of children, youth and young adults with autism and other disabilities by assisting them to gain access to education, empowerment and networking with others.
Their goals of: Home setting program to youth with cognitive challenges; 2. Job opportunity/volunteering work; and 3. Home visiting, surely address some of the needs of children, youth and adults with disabilities worldwide.
Looking forward, CAT is looking for:
• Local sponsors to fund a tailoring course for youth in a vocation training center.
• Organizations that can employ youth with disabilities.
• Fundraising for food and transportation for youth with disabilities.
