I want this book to be the worst kept secret. 📖

Not because of me, but because of the women who need it. The ones holding everything together, giving to everyone, and quietly wondering when it’s their turn to rest. The Selah Journey book was written for them, and maybe for you.

I loved writing this book, but Chapter One holds a special place in my heart. Writing it meant going back to who I was when this journey began, a woman just learning to make room for her own wellbeing. I looked back at her with so much gratitude and compassion. 💛 That’s what I hope this book gives you too: a gentler way to see yourself.

This National Book Month, with the holidays close, I’d love for you to put it in the hands of the women you love: a friend, a sister, your mom. It’s a way of telling them they matter too. Their rest matters. Their peace matters. 🍃

For the one who feels drained lately: your energy was never meant to run in one direction. 🍃

We give, and then we gather. We pour out, and then we fill back up. That rhythm isn’t a weakness. It is how a whole person is designed to live.

When we honor both halves, our patience comes back. Our ideas come back. Joy starts showing up in small, unexpected places.

Rest is not the opposite of a full life. It is what makes a full life sustainable. 🙌 And it doesn’t have to be grand. A slow morning. A walk with no destination. A quiet hour that belongs only to you.

🗨️ Which part of your rhythm is asking for more attention right now?

If you would like a gentle space to explore that, a FREE discovery call is a lovely place to begin. No pressure, just an honest conversation about where you are and what you need.

What we can’t name, we can’t care for. That’s true for our bodies, our emotions, and the many ways we hold others up each day.

Caring for the people we love is a gift. It’s also real work, and much of it happens quietly. The thinking ahead. The checking in. Being the steady presence others lean on. Because it’s quiet, it rarely gets counted, even by us. So when the tiredness comes, it can feel like it came from nowhere.

It didn’t. It came from care that has never had a name.

Self-care becomes realistic when it answers what we actually carry. Here is a simple practice to help you see it clearly. We call it the Invisible Load Inventory. Give yourself fifteen quiet minutes and a notebook.

🍂 Name it. Write down every way you care for others right now, at home, at work, and with family near or far. If it takes your energy, it belongs on the page.

🍂 See it. Read the whole list back without ranking or judging. Let it explain your tiredness instead of shaming it.

🍂 Tend it. Next to each item, ask: where is the care for me in this? One small change is enough.

🍂 Draw the line. Mark each one keep, share, or release. A boundary is not a wall. It’s how you protect the energy you need to keep caring well.

Be gentle with what you find. Seeing it clearly is already a kindness to yourself.

If this practice speaks to you, come join us at The Hala Whole Being Center. Our free guest pass is now extended through November.

On this World Mental Health Day, a gentle reminder: caring for your mind is never something to hide. 💚

A sprained ankle gets ice. A fever gets rest. A lingering cough gets a doctor’s visit. No one questions it.

Your mental health deserves that same ordinary, unembarrassed care. Reaching for support doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It means you’re paying attention.

Help is more within reach today than it was a generation ago. The hardest part is often the first question.

➡️ If you need a safe place to ask it, book a FREE discovery call through the link. I’ll listen, confidentially. This is a path I’ve walked too. ❤️‍🩹

No.

Two letters, and somehow one of the hardest words to say, especially once the busy season gets going.

And it’s on its way. The weather cools, the calendar starts to fill, and soon come the gatherings, school events, work dinners, and favors that need doing before the year ends. Each one asks for a little of you, and together they ask for a lot.

Right now, while there’s still a little breathing room, is a good time to pause and look back. Think about the past few months. 💭 Which plans left you feeling full and glad you went? Which ones did you dread, or need days to recover from? You don’t need to judge any of it. Just notice. Your answers will show you what you want to say yes to this season, and where a no might serve you better.

And when the answer is no, it doesn’t need a backstory or an apology attached. “No.” is a complete sentence, and it can still be said with kindness. 🙌

If that word feels hard to say, you’re not alone. Many of us learned to keep the peace by keeping everyone happy. Be patient with yourself as you practice. ❤️‍🩹

💬As you look back, what has this year shown you about where your yes belongs?

It's Mental Illness Awareness Week, and this one is close to my heart 💚

Just the other night, my mom shared that in her day, people whose minds worked differently were written off as "crazy" or said to have "caught the vapors." My parents had no framework for mental health. As a teen, I felt a part of me was broken and had no name for it.

I recognized my depression in my 20s, after a dear college friend shared his own struggle with chronic depression. His honesty gave me courage to name mine. Still, I didn't get counseling until my 40s. That's how long silence can delay support.

Mental illness doesn't always look like a crisis. Often, it looks like someone still showing up, still smiling, quietly feeling something is off.

Awareness shortens that wait. It looks like talking about mental health openly, noticing when someone has gone quiet, and listening without rushing to fix. Sometimes it's sharing your own story, the way my friend shared his.

Today, my kids talk openly with me about their mental health, on good days and hard ones. I'm so grateful for that, because a safe conversation is often where support begins.

If you're carrying it quietly right now, you're not alone. Say yes to this week. Start one of those conversations, with someone you love or yourself. Caring for your mental health is one of the most important gifts you can give yourself 🌿

➡️ Who in your life could use that conversation this week?

As women, so many of us give until there's nothing left, often without realizing how tired we've become. ❤️‍🩹

And "just rest more" doesn't help when our energy keeps going to everyone else first. Real rest starts when we stop giving away what we need to recover. That's what boundaries do, gently and over time. Be kind to yourself as you learn them.

Think of this as a rest stop, not another thing to get right. 💛 Tag a woman who's been driving too long without one. ⬇️
