Pregnancy is such a personal journey, and having the right support along the way can make a meaningful difference. 🌿

From pregnancy-related discomfort to the ups and downs of preparing for birth, it means so much to know she felt comfortable, supported, and at ease throughout her experience.

My approach has always been to meet each woman where she is, listen to what her body needs, and provide thoughtful, individualized care without adding more pressure to an already important season of life. ✨

What does acupuncture for perimenopause actually look like? 🌿

If you've been curious about acupuncture for perimenopause, you may be picturing a standard menopause treatment.

That's not really how I work.

Two women can both be in perimenopause and have completely different experiences. One may be struggling with sleep and night sweats. Another may be dealing with headaches, stress, fatigue, or changing periods.

Your first appointment starts with a conversation about you. We look at your symptoms, health history, sleep, stress, cycle changes, energy, and the other care you're receiving. From there, acupuncture is personalized around the whole picture.

You don't need to understand Traditional Chinese Medicine before you come in. You just need to tell me what has been changing.

If you've been wondering what a perimenopause acupuncture appointment actually looks like, I wrote a full article about it in the Wellness Library. ✨

Your cycle is not a report card. 🌿

Your menstrual cycle can tell us quite a bit about reproductive health, but it is not a report card on whether your body is doing everything right.

Cycle length, regularity, signs of ovulation, changes in bleeding, and shifts from your normal pattern can all provide useful information.

One misconception I hear often is that every woman ovulates on day 14. We don't. Even women with fairly regular cycles can have different fertile windows.

The goal of tracking isn't to control your body. It's to learn its patterns.

If you're trying to conceive, that information can help you better understand your fertile window and can also give your healthcare provider useful context if your cycles are irregular or pregnancy isn't happening as expected.

Brain fog, anxiety and poor sleep can overlap in perimenopause. 🌿

You forget why you walked into the room. A word disappears in the middle of a sentence. You're tired but can't sleep. And suddenly your stress tolerance feels completely different.

For some women, brain fog, anxiety, and sleep disruption begin showing up around the same time during perimenopause.

And they can feed into each other.

Poor sleep makes concentration and emotional regulation harder the next day. Stress can make sleep more difficult. Hot flashes or night sweats may wake you, and once you're awake, your brain decides it's the perfect time to think about everything.

Perimenopause may be part of the picture, but significant or worsening symptoms should still be discussed with your healthcare provider.

Understanding the pattern is the first step toward getting the right kind of support.

“Baby flipped!” 🌿

Every pregnancy journey is different, and feeling supported along the way can mean so much and one of the most meaningful parts of my work is being able to support women through such important moments in their lives. I’m grateful for your trust throughout your pregnancy journey and felt supported and cared for along the way.✨

Why am I waking up at 3 a.m.? 🌿
If you're in your 40s and suddenly waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning, you're definitely not the only woman asking this question.

Sleep can change during perimenopause. Hormonal fluctuations, hot flashes, night sweats, stress, and anxiety can all be part of the picture.

But hormones aren't the only possible reason for disrupted sleep, which is why I don't love automatically labeling every midlife symptom as "just menopause."

Pay attention to the pattern. Are you waking hot? Anxious? Wide awake for no obvious reason? Has your cycle changed too?

Those details matter.

I wrote more about the connection between perimenopause, hormones, and sleep in the Wellness Library if this sounds familiar.

'Common doesn't always mean normal.' 🌿

So many women have been told that painful periods are simply part of being a woman.
Some cramping can be part of menstruation. But pain that regularly keeps you home from work, wakes you from sleep, causes vomiting, or makes normal activities difficult deserves attention.

There can be many reasons for significant menstrual pain, including conditions that need medical evaluation.

I don't want women to become afraid of every symptom. I do want us to stop dismissing symptoms simply because they're common.

If your period has been disrupting your life for years, you are allowed to ask why.
Share this with a woman who needs to hear it, or read the full article in the Wellness Library.✨

Please stop telling women trying to conceive to 'just relax.' 🌿

Can stress affect fertility? Sometimes stress can interact with sleep, menstrual patterns, and the hormonal signals involved in reproduction.

But that is very different from telling a woman that she isn't getting pregnant because she's too stressed.

Trying to conceive can create stress all by itself. The tracking, waiting, testing, appointments, uncertainty, and monthly hope can be emotionally exhausting.

You do not need a perfectly regulated nervous system to deserve fertility support.

Instead of making relaxing another thing you have to succeed at, think about giving your body and mind consistent opportunities for support and recovery.

That might include better sleep, gentle movement, counseling, boundaries, time outside, meditation, or acupuncture as part of a broader wellness plan.

Support should take pressure off you, not add more. ✨

You don't need to wait until something is 'bad enough.' 🌿

You don't have to wait until you're completely exhausted, your pain is unbearable, or you've spent months telling yourself a symptom will probably go away.

Sometimes the right time to ask for support is simply when you notice that something has changed.

Maybe your periods are different. Your sleep isn't what it used to be. Stress feels harder to shake. You're trying to conceive and want more support through the process. Or you simply don't feel quite like yourself.

You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis or know whether acupuncture is the answer.

That's what the conversation is for.

At Ageless Acupuncture & Wellness, we'll start with what's happening now and look at the whole picture together. ✨

PMS or something more? 🌿

Most women have heard of PMS. PMDD is talked about much less often.

PMS can include irritability, bloating, fatigue, breast tenderness, headaches, anxiety, sleep changes, and other symptoms before your period. PMDD is more severe and can significantly affect your work, relationships, mood, and ability to function.

The important part is not trying to diagnose yourself from a checklist. It's noticing the pattern.

If you regularly feel like a completely different version of yourself before your period and then feel the symptoms lift once your period begins, start tracking what you're experiencing and talk with your healthcare provider.

Severe premenstrual symptoms deserve to be taken seriously.

I've broken down PMS vs. PMDD and what to pay attention to in the Wellness Library.✨
