Dear Valued Client and Friend,

This letter is to inform you that I am retiring and my last day will be Saturday, March 9th.

I will be discounting all my inventory of flea/tick products & heartworm preventative by 10%.
If your pet needs to be caught up on vaccinations or other services, I will also discount that by 10%.

It has been a very difficult decision. I want to thank you and your pets for a most valued
experience.

Sincerely,
Robert Hathaway, DVM

Tip of the week:
Even though we are getting into cold weather, don't take fleas for granted. We are currently enduring one of the worst flea seasons I have seen in many years. People that don't even have pets are finding fleas in their homes.
The most important thing to keep in mind when trying to eliminate fleas from your pets is this - Fleas don't live on the pet. They hop on and feed and then hop off into the pets environment. Then a new shift of fleas hop on. If you find even one flea on your pet, there are many, many more in the pets environment. That can be your house, carpet, bedding, sofa, yard and just about anywhere else.
Talk to your vet about using quality products for flea control. Don't waste your money on flea collars. They just don't work. Monthly flea treatments year round are the best way to prevent a problem from getting out of hand.
Once the weather gets cold and stays cold, the fleas outdoors are dormant. At least then re-infestation from outdoors is not a problem, unless mother nature gives us a winter day above 40°.
If anyone has questions about flea control, call our office and I'll be glad to answer your questions.

Good luck,
Dr. Bob

A little reminder -

Holiday Tip:

Try to withstand the temptation to feed your dog people food on Thanksgiving (for that matter, at anytime). Turkey and other meats have lots of fat that can cause pancreatitis and gastroenteritis in dogs. Pancreatitis is a potentially deadly condition. The symptoms are lethargy and vomiting. The best thing to do is to put your dog in a crate or a different room while you are eating. If you are feeling guilty, have some of your dog's favorite treats available. And don't forget that bones can lodge in the GI tract and cause a life threatening blockage. Save you and your dog an emergency trip to the vet. Play it safe.

Every year 5-7 million companion animals end up in shelters.

Only 15-20% are reunited with their owners.

Help us increase these reunion numbers by doing the following:

-check with local vets
-check with local animal control
-check with local shelters
-micro chip your animals
-have I.D. Tags on your animal
