There’s a moment just before everything feels new again. The first drops of rain hitting dry earth.

That scent has a name: petrichor.

It rises from the ground, shaped by soil, minerals, and the air itself. It carries memory, calm, and a sense of renewal in a single breath.

In our most recent blog post, we explored what gives petrichor its power and why capturing it in fragrance is such a delicate process.

Spring is starting to show up here in southern Indiana. The days are stretching longer, the air feels lighter, and our magnolia tree is beginning to bud. Everywhere you look, something is waking up.

In perfumery, that feeling often comes from citrus.

Notes like bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, and mandarin bring brightness and clarity to a fragrance. They are lively and uplifting, but also fleeting. Citrus molecules are small and evaporate quickly, which is why those sparkling opening notes can seem to disappear so fast.

That quick burst of freshness is part of what makes citrus so beautiful. It captures the same energy we feel this time of year: new light, fresh air, and the sense that something is beginning again.

Our newest blog post explores the citrus family in perfumery, why these notes behave the way they do, and how perfumers design fragrances that keep that brightness alive.

To celebrate the return of citrus season, all Spring Perfume Kits are 15% off for a limited time.

If spring has you feeling inspired to create something new, this is a great moment to start blending.

We made the news!

This Louisville-area news story highlights how days of closures from the winter storm meant lost revenue, canceled events, and challenges getting back on track.

Our own DIY perfume shop in New Albany lost out on a busy Saturday. But bookings are now full again and the recovery has begun (fingers crossed).

Check out the article to see how local businesses are restarting and why supporting them now matters so much: https://www.wlky.com/article/louisville-small-businesses-winter-storm-impacts/70178469

Let’s rally around our local shops!

Owners say the best way to help is simple: shop local, especially in the days following a storm.
