đź’— Let awareness be your reminder to take action.

Screening can help find breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. Talk with your health care provider about your personal risk, family history and when to schedule a mammogram.

At the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center, we’re united in supporting patients, advancing research and working toward better outcomes across Louisiana.

For more information:

We make sure women who qualify get no-cost mammograms and the help they need to get screened (including financial help and transportation). Today, on Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, we recognize people living with stage IV breast cancer and the need for continued progress.

Stage IV, or metastatic breast cancer, means the cancer has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body, such as the bones, lungs, liver or brain.

Early detection matters. So does research at every stage. From understanding how breast cancer develops and spreads to finding better treatments that help people live longer and feel better.

At the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center, we’re working toward more answers, more options and better outcomes for patients across Louisiana.

Reaching women in every corner of Louisiana. đź’ś

In just the last year, the Louisiana Breast & Cervical Health Program (LBCHP), a program of the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center, served more than 7,500 women.

From rural towns to urban neighborhoods, LBCHP helps women access breast and cervical cancer screenings and overcome barriers such as cost, transportation and navigating appointments.

Behind every number is a woman, a family and a community. Thank you to the navigators, providers and partners who make this reach possible.

Caregivers need care, too.

As we recognize World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10, we’re reminding cancer caregivers that their emotional well-being matters.

When someone you love has cancer, it’s easy to put your own needs on hold. Asking for help, taking time to recharge and staying connected with others can help you care for yourself while supporting your loved one.

Our blog shares five practical ways to make self-care part of your caregiving journey. Share it with a caregiver who could use a little encouragement.

Men can get breast cancer, too.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminding men to pay attention to changes in their breast or chest area, including a new lump or skin dimpling.

These changes don’t always mean cancer, but they deserve prompt attention from a health care provider. Don’t dismiss a symptom because you’re a man.

Awareness matters for everyone. Share this reminder with the men in your life.
