This weekend is not about barbecues, the starting of camping season or opening up the lake home, but rather about those no longer with us, those who paid the ultimate price. Even though we don’t have the parades and ceremonies we normally have to honor them, please take a moment, bow your head and thank them for the freedoms you enjoy. Commander Marsha Bryant

Chapter 15 members and fellow veterans, please take the time to go into the community and enjoy some of the benefits/free food set aside for you on this day. You’ve earned it. To those providing these services, we thank you. I saw a post the other day I really liked, went something like this... don’t thank a vet, rather be the American we can be proud of serving. Happy Veterans Day. Commander Marsha Bryant

On September 7th the Chapter did our first clothing load under the new system. We loaded 40,340 pounds in 2 hours!!! The amount of people who showed up to assist made the job go so smooth. Couldn’t have done it without them. BIG THANK YOU! Next load late October/early November. Will keep you posted and consider volunteering with us. Veterans helping Veterans, can’t go wrong with that.

This is a major part of our fund raising efforts and how we fund our local Veterans for Veterans programs. We can use all the able bodies we can get. Thanks, Marsha Bryant. Commander DAV 15

“We do not believe the BRAC-like model is the most appropriate way to address capital asset needs,” said Joy Ilem, national legislative director for Disabled American Veterans. She said DAV supports making VA “more nimble,” but added Congress should not move forward with an asset closure plan before first determining the future of the Veterans Choice Program and the role of private care in the department’s health care delivery. She added VA should not close any facility before it opens an alternative building or it establishes a private facility partnership.
