Emergence Health We are on a mission to provide every person with high-quality, holistic primary care and functional medicine.

Our treatments combine Eastern and Western medicine modalities to give you the very best tools and support to heal. Hi, my name is Leah Geoghegan and I am a board-certified Primary Care and Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner with a mission to increase access to high-quality holistic health care. My practice of medicine draws on over 6 years of experience working in both acute and primary care settings throughout New York--from the NYU Langone Emergency Department to a private Manhattan Functional Medicine practice. From Emergency to Emergence Health, I have evolved my vision to start my own telehealth holistic practice. My company, Emergence Health, focuses on providing affordable holistic health care that works with the body’s innate ability to heal. The company ethos is the epicenter of my approach and includes listening to the body, celebrating every person’s individuality, collaborative patient-provider relationships rooted in trust, and engagement within a supportive community. I am looking to work with motivated individuals who are seeking a new way to receive health care that is less invasive, natural, and provides them with more control. I am also looking to collaborate with like-minded individuals working in the health and wellness space who share this vision of holistic health care for all. For more info, follow me on IG at and visit www.emergence.health.

Saying goodbye to summer with a very full heart! ☀️🤍

So grateful for my family, for all the beautiful moments we’ve shared, and for this sweet summer of 2026 as it comes to a close.

As the long, warm days wind down and we settle into the cozier months of fall and winter, I’m looking forward to slower rhythms, mindful moments inside, and giving our bodies a little more of the rest and restoration they naturally crave. 🍂✨

Cheers to a fabulous summer, a beautiful new season, and all the adventures still ahead! 🥂🤎

When it comes to your health, big changes aren't always the answer. In fact, small, consistent habits can create the foundation for lasting results. 🌿

For women, health is influenced by many interconnected factors, including hormones, stress, sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle. Because of this, extreme approaches can often feel difficult to maintain and may not support your body’s unique needs.

Small shifts like:

🥗 Adding more nutrient-dense foods to your meals
💧 Staying consistently hydrated
😴 Prioritizing quality sleep
🚶‍♀️ Moving your body in ways that feel good
🧘‍♀️ Creating space for stress management
.. can build momentum over time.

✨ Health isn't about perfection. It’s about creating sustainable habits that support your body, your energy, and your long-term well-being.

Small steps, repeated consistently, can lead to meaningful change. 💚

It's time! We'd like to officially introduce you to our twins. 💙🩷

In August, John and I welcomed two very special additions to our family: Naomi and Theo.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of caring for women throughout the reproductive lifespan - from fertility and pregnancy to postpartum, perimenopause, and postmenopause. I thought I understood just how dynamic and remarkable the female body is.

Then one day, I saw two pink lines and it was my turn.

The past 9 months have left me humbled and in awe of what the human body is capable of. Growing two tiny humans, giving birth to them, and now caring for them has changed me in ways I'm only beginning to understand. It has given me an even greater appreciation for the resilience of women, the complexity of motherhood, and the countless physical and emotional transformations that accompany both.

I'm grateful for our family and friends, the Emergence Health team, and our incredible patient community who have supported us throughout this season of life. One of the greatest gifts of this experience has been realizing that care truly goes both ways. Thank you 🙏

I know this journey will continue to shape both me and my perspective on women's health, and I look forward to sharing what I learn with you along the way.

For now, I'll be soaking up this precious time with my growing family.

♂🔥♀ Men and women can experience the same level of chronic stress, but it may show up differently depending on how they respond, cope, and seek support.

🩷 Women may be more likely to experience burnout through emotional exhaustion, feeling overwhelmed, and carrying the mental load of competing responsibilities. Over time, this can contribute to increased stress, anxiety, sleep disruption, and feelings of being depleted.

💙 Men may be more likely to externalize burnout through frustration, irritability, withdrawal, or disengagement. When stress goes unaddressed, it can contribute to increased risk of physical health concerns, including cardiovascular issues, and reliance on unhealthy coping behaviors.

Same stress. Different signals. Different risks.

Recognizing how burnout shows up differently helps us identify it earlier and seek support ⚖️💫

🧪 Your annual blood work may be only telling part of the story...

At Emergence Health, we take a more comprehensive approach by looking beyond what’s simply “in range” and focusing on where your levels are optimized to support your health.

Many important markers aren't included in a standard annual physical, which is why we incorporate deeper testing into our treatment plans.

Here are some of the key areas we evaluate:

1️⃣ Full Thyroid Panel
📍Thyroid markers can provide insight into hormone imbalances, including low or excess thyroid hormone levels and potential autoimmune thyroid conditions.

2️⃣ Nutrient Testing
📍We assess key nutrient levels to understand whether your body is getting what it needs and identify potential deficiencies.

3️⃣ Inflammatory & Autoimmune Status
📍We evaluate markers like hsCRP and homocysteine, along with preliminary autoimmune screening, to better understand your overall health status.

4️⃣ Blood Sugar Metabolism
📍Comprehensive blood sugar and insulin sensitivity testing helps identify metabolic concerns and provides insight into how your body processes energy.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of prevention, education, and early detection.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, but many cases can be managed more effectively when identified early.

Here are three things everyone should know:

💙 Know your risk
Your age, family history, and certain health factors can influence your risk of developing prostate cancer.

💙 Know the signs
Some men may experience changes with urination, discomfort, or other symptoms, while others may have no symptoms at all in the early stages.

💙 Know when to talk to your healthcare provider
Screening recommendations can vary depending on your age, risk factors, and personal health history. Having an informed conversation with your healthcare provider is an important step in prevention.

This month, start the conversation. Encourage the men in your life to prioritize their health and take proactive steps toward prevention.
