I used to listen to all the labels and diagnosis’s and if I stayed in that mental state I’d feel completely defeated. Conditions don’t have to plague you forever. As my #healing progressed, the ultimate standard of #wellness was to practice #kungfu. I’m still a beginner but I’ve come such a long way I could cry. I’ve dedicated my 20+ year career to #wellness and #healthylifestyle but I’m still amused by some of the biohackers that are so rigid with rituals and quantifying everything that it’s more robotic than human.
A big part of #longevity is being awake to #spirituality - dealing with #trauma and having inner peace and #happiness. What’s the point of living to 120 or longer if you can enjoy it because you’re so busy restricting yourself?

It’s super common if you have dealt with a #chronic condition - whether it’s #pain #migraines, #autoimmunedisease, #Lyme or whatever your thing is and you’re hoping you’re 100% and then all of a sudden you have a bad day and you panic!
I dedicate every day to having a positive mindset, but even those of us who have tremendous discipline are still human and can have #PTSD when our day seems out of control. Whether you’re dealing with #healing or just life in general, there are always going to be ups and downs, but one bad hour or one bad day is not a bad lifetime! New addition to my nutrition and health coaching practice
When working with a #nutrition client or providing health coaching, I always request lab work. It’s hard to curate a comprehensive plan when you don’t have all the information to make an informed decision on how to help someone with their nutrition and #lifestyle. Unfortunately, much of the standard lab work doesn’t show with the whole picture. Can your supplements 💊be interfering with your #thyroid medication?
It is unbelievable how many people I see that have thyroid issues. Whether it’s hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or #Hashimotos, you may be prescribed thyroid hormone to help with better function. If you fall into this category, be mindful of your nutritional #supplements.
Thyroid medicine should be taken on an empty stomach (usually upon waking) an hour away from food, ☕️other medicines or supplements. Although, there are some supplements that need to be taken at least 4 hours away from your thyroid medication. The main ones are Iron, Calcium, and also be careful with antacids. Even hold off with your multi-vitamins until the afternoon.
Binders such as Chlorella, Zeolite, Activated Charcoal, Bentonite Clay and Cholestyramine which are used for regular #detoxification #molddetox and #Lymedisease also bind to thyroid medicine and make it less effective. AND many people who require binders, also have thyroid issues🧐 The solution would be to take them at night to give yourself a lot of hours between your morning medicine.
If you make this mistake with supplements, you could be taking the proper prescribed dose but still feel unwell because they are taking away the medicine’s potency.
It’s an easy thing to get stumped with. So just know that supplements (even if natural) can have consequences. Timing is everything.

How much do you understand your brain chemistry? Are you familiar with the neurotransmitters GABA and Glutamate? These two should be balanced. GABA is calming and Glutamate is excitatory. Both are important for healthy brain 🧠 function.
The problem is that many people who are dealing with brain issues such as #TraumaticBrainInjury #Chronic FatigueSyndrome #Insomnia #Fibromyalgia #Dizziness #BrainFog #OCD and #Anxiety may have Glutamate Dysregulation. This is why people in this category are often prescribed benzodiazepines like Klonipin, Xanax, Valium, Ativan etc. to help produce more GABA to stop overfiring of neurons in the brain to help calm the nervous system.
But did you also know that you can naturally balance your levels of Glutamate by shifting your #diet? There are many foods, (even health foods) that can do a number on the brain of someone with glutamate sensitivity. Some of the foods that you should go light with or avoid if you fall in this category are “Health Foods” like Bone Broth, Nutritional Yeast, Mushrooms, Processed Soy Foods, Tomato Sauce, and then be cautious of most sauces, soups, dressings, marinades and anything that says “Naturally Flavored” or the obvious which is MSG.
Now you may be thinking that really sucks, what’s left to eat? There’s actually plenty. A #MediterraneanDiet is actually a great idea for someone who wants to work on a healthy brain. Think fatty fish, lean proteins, green leafy vegetables, organic berries, avocado, and olive oil etc. Fresh is always best.
Even be careful with supplements that can increase glutamate if you are sensitive. L-Glutamine can be amazing for #Immunity and #Leakygut but it can also be problematic if you fall into this category.
There are also supplents that help to increase GABA naturally such as Theanine, Phosphatidyl Serine and Magnesium but it’s always best to consult a professional!

Feeling tired is not just part of the aging process
Feeling tired with age is not necessarily “normal”.
While I’m not a doctor, when I work with #Nutrition clients I don’t just tell them to take vitamins or drink green juices or eat #superfoods 🙄 I like to see lab work.
There is likely a reason why and often it will not show up in basic blood work. Your GP may not test hormones, vitamin levels, or look for viruses that may be present. Know what to request…
