🐟💚 WILD OR FARMED SALMON? HERE’S WHAT I ACTUALLY EAT!

I LOVE salmon! It’s one of my favorite foods for healthy aging, metabolic health, and maintaining muscle as we get older.

But here’s my confession: I’m not crazy about the taste of wild coho salmon. I prefer a richer, buttery flavor.

My absolute favorite? Faroe Islands salmon! 😋

And guess what? It’s farm-raised!

So, is farmed salmon healthy? Absolutely! But where it comes from and how it’s raised matter.

Why I love salmon:

❤️ Omega-3 fatty acids that support heart health

💪 High-quality protein to help preserve muscle as we age

🧠 EPA and DHA, important for brain health

✨ Vitamin B12, selenium, and other essential nutrients

Why Faroe Islands salmon is my favorite:

🌊 Raised in cold North Atlantic waters

🐟 Rich, buttery flavor and wonderful texture

💚 A strong track record of avoiding antibiotic use

🌱 Some producers have independently certified farming practices

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING SALMON:

✅ Know where your salmon comes from.

✅ Look for responsibly farmed salmon, preferably ASC-certified.

✅ Don’t automatically assume wild-caught is healthier than farm-raised. Both can be nutritious choices.

✅ Choose salmon you enjoy eating! Consistency matters when building healthy habits.

One important distinction: Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch rates Faroe Islands farmed salmon a “Good Alternative” rather than its highest sustainability rating. Farming practices still matter.

The American Heart Association recommends eating fish, especially fatty fish, twice a week.

🍽️ My favorite meal? Grilled Faroe Islands salmon, roasted broccoli, and a kale salad with avocado, lemon, and extra-virgin olive oil.

Simple, delicious, nutrient-dense, and perfect for supporting healthy aging!

💬 Have you tried Faroe Islands salmon? Are you team wild or farm-raised?

🧬✨ Could stem cell therapy be changing lives in ways we never imagined?

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Perry Myers, CEO and Founder of Infinite Medical, a company exploring innovative regenerative medicine and stem cell therapies to help people improve their health and quality of life.

Perry shared some truly remarkable patient stories—experiences that sound almost miraculous! 🙌

In this clip, he tells the story of a man who suffered a stroke and lost feeling on the left side of his body. According to Perry, after receiving two stem cell treatments, the patient experienced an extraordinary recovery.

Stories like this are fascinating and offer a glimpse into the possibilities being explored in regenerative medicine. While stem cell therapies for stroke recovery remain investigational, the research and potential are certainly worth following.

🎀 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH: What’s on your plate matters! 🥦🫐

Did you know that what you eat—and what you drink—can influence your breast cancer risk?

Research from the American Cancer Society and American Institute for Cancer Research shows that our overall dietary patterns and lifestyle choices play an important role in cancer prevention and long-term health.

Here are some science-backed ways to support your health:

🥦 Eat the rainbow! Fill your plate with colorful vegetables and fruits.

🫐 Fiber is your friend. Think berries, oats, lentils, beans, and chia seeds.

🐟 Choose healthy proteins and fats. Include fish, nuts, legumes, and olive oil.

🚫 Limit processed meats, sugary beverages, and highly processed foods.

🍷 And here’s something many women don’t realize: Even one alcoholic drink a day is associated with an approximately 7–10% higher relative risk of breast cancer compared with not drinking.

💗 No single food can prevent or cure breast cancer, but our everyday choices can make a meaningful difference in our overall health.

As a health and wellness coach, I believe in empowering women with science—not fear or food restrictions.

✨ Save this post, share it with a woman you care about, and tell me: Which of these healthy habits are already part of your routine?

💗 Women’s health is finally getting the attention it deserves. But we still have a LONG way to go!

An inspiring day at The Female Quotient’s Women’s Health Conference in NYC, hearing from incredible advocates, healthcare leaders, and innovators.

Maria Menounos shared her deeply personal health journey, including her experience with diabetes, surviving a brain tumor, and caring for her mother through brain cancer. A powerful reminder of why we must advocate for ourselves.

Katie Couric has also made an extraordinary impact on cancer awareness and early detection, first through her advocacy for colorectal cancer screening following her husband’s death and now through her own breast cancer journey.

From conversations with leaders representing Novo Nordisk, Nestlé Health Science, Flo Health, LYMA, Love Wellness, and eMed, one thing was clear:

🔬 We need MORE research focused on women.

🩺 We need BETTER education and earlier detection.

💪 And we must NEVER stop advocating for our own health.

Your health. Your voice. Your future. 💗

What does the future of food, fitness, and health look like? 🔬🥗💪

I spent two inspiring days at Food HealthTech Live in NYC, presented by Food Network, connecting with innovators and learning about the latest breakthroughs shaping our health and longevity.

A few fascinating takeaways:

🧬 Personalization is the future of fitness. Data and technology are transforming how we train, perform, and age.

🥦 Food is powerful medicine. Maneesh Goyal of Mayo Clinic Platform shared compelling insights about nutritional interventions and improved survival outcomes in oncology patients.

📊 GLP-1s are changing behaviors. Research presented by Evidation involving more than 10,000 participants highlighted reduced sugar consumption as the leading behavioral change, along with other encouraging habits, including drinking more water.

My biggest takeaway? The connection between nutrition, movement, technology, and longevity has never been more exciting!

So much innovation, meaningful conversation, and inspiration to bring back to my own work in health and wellness. ✨

Such a thought-provoking evening with at the ROAR Mastermind ROAR Forward at Hearst Tower in NYC, hearing from Professor Lynda Gratton of London Business School, one of the world’s leading thinkers on longevity, careers and the future of work.

Her research asks a fascinating question: If we’re going to live longer, how do we rethink the way we work—and the way we live? As careers stretch into our 60s, 70s and beyond, the traditional model of education → career → retirement no longer makes much sense. Instead, Gratton’s research looks at longer, more fluid careers built around reinvention, continuous learning, relationships, purpose and wellbeing. (London Business School)

Her new book, Living the 100-Year Life: How to Build a Career That Lasts and a Life You Love, explores how we can intentionally design those extra years—not simply to work longer, but to create lives that remain meaningful, resilient and fulfilling. She describes eight important “life threads,” including mastery, cooperation, AI, friendship, calm and adventure, that we weave together over a lifetime.

A message that really resonated with me: longevity isn’t just about adding years to our lives—it’s about thinking differently about what we do with them.

Thank you ROAR for bringing together conversations that challenge us to keep learning, evolving and reimagining what’s possible at every stage of life. ✨

☕️ Happy National Coffee Day!

Some people drink coffee to wake up. I may be in the wake up to drink coffee camp. 😂☕️

And there’s actually some good news for coffee lovers: coffee is rich in antioxidants, and research has associated moderate coffee consumption with benefits including better alertness and a lower risk of several chronic diseases.

But timing matters. ⏰ Caffeine has a half-life of roughly 4–6 hours in many adults, meaning a meaningful amount can still be circulating hours after your last cup. For some people, caffeine even 6 hours before bedtime can interfere with sleep.

My rule of thumb? Enjoy your coffee in the morning and consider making noon–2 PM your cutoff, especially if you’re sensitive to caffeine or have trouble sleeping. 😴

Because coffee can be part of a healthy lifestyle—but great sleep is one of the foundations of metabolic health and longevity. 💚

So today, I’m raising my cup to National Coffee Day. ☕️✨ Are you a one-cup-a-day person…or don’t talk to me until I’ve had my second?
