The Yoruba say, You don’t use white cloth to make a suit for a lazy man. It is because you already know the lazy man will not keep himself clean. So, why set him up for failure and disgrace? Better to use dark cloth or something with busy patterns.
This proverb is not about the lazy man, however. Instead, it speaks to your level of professionalism and attention to detail. As a creator, one mark of your mastery is the ability to predict the way your product will be used and to plan accordingly.
White cloth justice requires no police, no judge and no courtroom. It doesn’t even require explanation. When you’re wearing white, I need to do is look at you and I can tell how your day is going. Let it be so with your work as well.
For me, it is the performance of my students reveals the quality of my work. I don’t need to worry myself over what he said or what she said. The only thing that matter is what my students do with what I have taught them. They chant, they pray, they sing, they divine, they dream, they analyze, they consecrate, the make offerings, they worship in earnest and they study intensely. They are the best. They are the brightest. I look at them and I see gleaming white cloth.
I am looking for leaders who are ready to improve the world through positive influence. If that is you, find out how Oloye Obafemi Origunwa and the Orisa Lifestyle Academy can help you take your practice and your life to the next level.
