ICE is harming pregnant people. ICE is harming our neighbors. It shouldn’t be this way. And we won’t shut up about it.

Thank you to our Board Chair Ghazaleh Moayedi, DO, MPH for joining NPR 1A and sharing the impact ICE has when it violently polices our communities. Pregnant people need timely and compassionate reproductive health care; not kidnapping, solitary detention, and shackles.

For 50 years, the Hyde Amendment has helped uphold a two-tiered system of health care: one for people who can afford it, and another for people who can’t.

That’s by design. Restricting abortion coverage for those who rely on Medicaid is a policy choice, and the consequences fall hardest on people already facing systemic barriers to care.

It’s time to end Hyde.

As physicians, we think you deserve health care, including abortion care, no matter what. And you. And you. And you.

⚡️HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DIVA —

26 years ago, the FDA approved mifepristone for medication abortion. It’s true that we all deserve to have the abortions we need or want. It’s also true that we deserve to have abortions the way we want.

In a clinic.
At home in sweatpants.
Giggling with your home(girls/boys/theys).

Abortion is safe, and so is mifepristone. You deserve all your options — not just what the state deigns to allow you.

One thing about Physicians for Reproductive Health?

Whatever you like, we love.

You like your hormonal IUD? Love that for you.
You tried hormonal birth control, hated it, and got off of it? Love that for you.
You like the thought of 10 kids and a farm? Love that for you.

Seriously. We are not cops. It’s your body and your life. We trust you.

But what we DON’T love for you? Sneaky anti-birth control propaganda disguised as the ticket to the life you “should” want.

You get to decide when and how you start your family. And you deserve better than having that extremely personal decision manipulated to advance someone else’s political agenda.

So the next time someone tries to convince you that birth control is standing between you and the life you’re supposed to have, ask yourself:

Who benefits from you believing that?

You have to remember that anti-abortion extremists are about as slick as action movie villains who announce their entire evil plan to the protagonist just before they execute it, which is to say not at all.

They’re hoping you get complacent with abortion access crumbs. They’re hoping you’ll shrug and say you live in a “safe” state so you’ll stop fighting for abortion. They’re hoping you don’t notice that they’re trying to ban abortion for everyone, everywhere.

PRH and Autonomy News aren’t going to make it easy for them. And you’re not either, right?
