Hey friends! Come join us at The Arc Anderson County for an Open House this Friday, July 30, from 2:00-5:30 pm at our office at 161 Robertsville Road, Suite D1.

This free event features food and fun (and inflatables!), plus an opportunity to learn more about the After-School Program for students ages 12-22 with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Students with IDD are often left out of mainstream social programs. This program gives students a time to cultivate meaningful relationships and social opportunities in a fun atmosphere. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-5 pm. Cost is $20/session (scholarships are available) and bus transportation is available from RMS and ORHS.

We also have a program for adults who have graduated. This group meets from 10:30 am-1:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

If you know of anyone who could benefit from the After-School Program or the Graduate Program, please encourage them to come by and find out more!

For the last day of The Arc 2021 Summer Program, the participants enjoyed WATER DAY! Once all of the 200 water balloons were thrown at every moving target, the race was on to fill cups of water from two large coolers. All bets were off and EVERYONE got wet!
All the participants agreed it was a really fun day 😊

Our graduates class outing to the Knoxville Zoo today was a big success and everyone had a great time! The gorillas, giraffes, and armadillos were the surprize hits of the visit, although the elephants, gibbons, and red pandas are still everyone's favorites in our group.😊

Racking Collapse in Warehouse

Heartbreaking video. Due to a terrible accident in Mozzarella, Italy (30 second mark) you may not be able to get cheese pizza soon.

The answer: Buy as many cheese or pepperoni pizzas as you can this Sunday at Papa Murphy’s in Oak Ridge from 12-7pm. It may be the last time you taste pizza in a while.

Ok not really but it is for charity after all.

The Arc Anderson County would like to give an update based on Governor Bill Lee’s statement earlier this week and then Superintendent Bruce Borchers response yesterday. The Arc Anderson County After-School Program will follow the guidelines put forth by the state and will also close for the balance of the 2019 and 2020 school year. Our hearts immediately go out to our 2 seniors for this most unusual conclusion of their school experience. We will look for ways to celebrate these graduates as we move forward. We maintain a commitment to serve those with ID/DD and the families that care for them. At this time, The Arc Anderson County is temporarily closed but we are still available by email or phone to support you as best we can. We will work together to do the best we can during this time.
If your family has any needs during this time, please feel free to contact us and we will work to get those needs met through our partner agencies. There is a great deal of assistance out there, so please do not hesitate to ask. All requests are confidential.
Please continue to stay safe and healthy!

03/25/2020

Good afternoon. In an effort to keep you updated on the status of The Arc After School Program, after yesterday's announcement from the governor for all schools to remain closed through April 24th, we will also be doing the same at The Arc. I will keep this page updated as we continue to progress through this as a community, state, country, and world. Please, stay healthy and reach out to me if there is anything I can assist you with in the meantime.
Kind regards,
Glenda Bergener

03/15/2020

After careful evaluation of the current situation in our nation and more importantly in our community, I feel that it is necessary to close The Arc Anderson County After School Program until March 31st at which time we will resume our normal program hours. I will continue to keep you updated with any news through our page.
Tuition credits will be calculated in to April's invoices.
Thank you,
Glenda Bergener

An Update for The Arc Anderson County Regarding services in response to Covid-19 Outbreak 12:15pm Friday March 13, 2020

As our community continues to feel the effects of the Corona virus and it impacts more aspects of our lives, we feel The Arc would like to update you on our strategies, thinking, and response. In light of Oak Ridge Schools decision regarding intersession activities The Arc is reaching out to our clients with the following information and plan.
We will continue to follow all County Health Department and CDC guidelines for safe practice and we want to continue to offer our services to the families we serve. The Arc is a small friend circle and a safe place to come and be comforted and receive information in a safe and supported environment. This is a small group and a closed group and no new members or volunteers will be permitted at this time. We will however continue to meet and as part of our regular work an increased emphasis will be how we can be helpful, healthy, and safe during this time.
As part of our protocols, our office has heightened our cleaning and disinfecting procedures to maintain a healthy environment for our clients and teachers. We’ve instructed anyone who is not feeling well to stay home out of an abundance of caution and self-monitor their symptoms. In addition to following CDC guidance and our local health departments, please help us be vigilant in protecting others by keeping up with hygiene practice and not sending your students if they are sick.
We may have to make additional decisions that are out of usual practice if the situation changes. If parents would like to keep their children at home, any tuition credits can be carried forward.
The care and education of our clients is our number one priority and we feel we best serve the community and those clients and students we love, by being the safe, information and education driven place that they know and love.

Respectfully,

Glenda Bergener

Everyone please plan your dinner on Sunday May 16th to be Papa Murphy's pizza! Come to the Oak Ridge Papa Murphy's located at 1133 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Suite C on that Sunday between Noon and 7PM. Tell them you want to buy a large cheese or large pepperoni pizza! All proceeds from sales will be donated to The Arc of Anderson County! Let's enjoy some pizza for a cause!
There is nothing like hanging with friends at The Arc! We love the makeover and new changes to the space!!! The music and movement room rocks and the art easel lets us show off our painting skills💜
The Arc of Anderson County has a need for a gently used vacuum cleaner. Anyone willing to make a much needed donation?
