Support. Provide resources and community for autistic individuals and their families through family social events, The Autism Partnership (TAP) program, and at least six monthly support groups.

Advocate. Build a welcoming, inclusive and supportive region for the autism community through disability forums, advocacy days, an annual autism acceptance walk, and ongoing local, state, and federal advocacy.

Impact, By the Numbers:
· Informative monthly newsletters and weekly social media posts reaching over 8,000 subscribers and 3,000 followers.

· Online parent support services, serving over 1,000 families annually.

· Information & Referral services, responding to hundreds of phone calls and emails annually from individuals seeking support and information on autism.

· Recreational opportunities, including a seasonal tennis program, quarterly family-friendly events, and at least six monthly sensory-friendly programs.

· Support programs for families and individuals across the lifespan, such as a number of monthly support groups and peer-to-peer mentoring for parents with newly-diagnosed children on the spectrum.

· Dozens of educational presentations each year promoting autism awareness, acceptance, and safety for families, schools, providers, first responders, and other community groups.

· Intervention assistance, providing over $600K of mini-grants to local autism families.

Els for Autism Golf Challenge - On Monday, September 20th, 2021, The Autism Society of Northern Virginia will be attending the Els for Autism Foundation Golf Challenge regional event at River Bend Golf and Country Club in Great Falls, VA.

The Els for Autism Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity established in 2009 by Ernie and Liezl Els—shortly after their son, Ben, was diagnosed on the autism spectrum. The Els have devoted their life efforts to a game-changing, philanthropic project – The Els Center of Excellence™.

Over the past 11 years, the Foundation has hosted the Els for Autism Golf Challenge regional event series – one of the largest charity-driven, amateur golf tournaments. This year The Autism Society of Northern Virginia will be joining Els for Autism in Great Falls, VA, to educate the local golfing community on autism awareness.
