Going Yogue represents holistic lifestyle of 21st century yogis, a lifestyle that is driven by a passion for vibrant health to fuel peak performance in life. A lifestyle that thrives on organic earth tools such as Yoga, Plant focused “Flexitarian” nutrition and Home décor inspired by india (the birthplace of Yoga or Yogue in Sanskrit). Our philosophy is that a holistic lifestyle is a simplistic lifestyle, a lifestyle that promotes “Balance” and as a result, respect for all of creation. Balance is attained by practicing moderation, for instance, we promote plant based nutrition, yet we are not 100% Vegan, we do eat meat and enjoy comfort foods such as alcohol, sugary treats among others occasionally. That defines BALANCE for us. In yoga, we practice moderation by making a conscious effort everyday to NOT judge others but also having the realization that we are NOT perfect so it’s ok to slip every now and then. Simply put, Going Yogue represents “Totality” itself, it is built on the philosophy that the purpose of life is to learn from our experiences, and we learn from our experiences by experimenting with our own consciousness. This process of experimentation is really our life plan, which is encoded in our DNA, and we can access this life plan by following our hearts, by pursuing things we are passionate about. When we end up doing things that we are truly passionate about, we finally realize that it’s the journey that is more important and far more exciting than the outcome itself. In Steve Job’s words; “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your Heart and Intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” (Steve Jobs, 1955 – 2011) It took me 10 years to think beyond my high paying job as a Financial engineer & Project Manager in corporate America and finally have the courage to follow my passion for Yoga & Nutrition. Going Yogue is the result of that courage. Our Story

Welcome to Going Yogue, your one stop shop for everything Health! I am Gaurav Singh (Yogi G), the founder of this website. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher, a Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner and a passionate Athlete. Additionally, I have a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and worked in corporate as an IT professional for over 10 years. I decided to launch Going Yogue to simplify one of the greatest challenges of our time, "Health". Almost 10 years ago, in my late twenties, I was diagnosed with Asthma, and a few days later during my dental appointment I was told that my bone density is extremely low and I may lose all my teeth in as little as 6 months if I don’t pay attention. Since I spent most of my time in corporate analyzing data and building and testing software, the analyst in me decided to analyze my personal situation by digging deeper into my own body and mind. My first logical step was to understand what causes low bone density and Asthma and the right course of action (Medicine vs Lifestyle changes) to address both of these conditions. After countless hours of research and experimentation, I was able to cure asthma and my bone density was back to normal only through lifestyle changes such as changing my diet and eating foods that are scientifically proven to improve health and prevent, reverse or cure diseases, Exercise with the focus on mindfulness and ample rest.

Based on my personal experiences, I learnt that lifestyle changes is the ONLY way to address the root cause of poor health which is Stress (both physical and mental). Above all, I learnt that Health is not about running marathons or pushing yourself to your limits in the Gym, nor does it mean to be a size zero (One-third of slim American adults have prediabetes!). If you are a marathoner (I am one) means you are physically fit but that does not necessarily mean you are healthy. Similarly, if you are a size zero that does not mean you are healthy and just because someone is slightly overweight does not necessarily mean he or she is unhealthy, so then, what is Health? Health means happiness or excitement for life "as it is" and "NOT how we think it SHOULD be". It means having consistent energy level to pursue things that we are passionate about, and to make CHOICES that benefit us and everyone else around us. Health is essentially an outcome of three simple choices that are within our control, unprocessed or unrefined wholefoods to nourish the physical body and this planet, moderate exercise with the focus on mindfulness to nourish the MIND (to develop awareness or consciousness to make the right choices) and optimal rest to revitalize and recharge and get ready for a Brand New Day!.

During this journey I had a ton of questions and confusions around what to eat and what not to eat. Should I buy local, organic or conventional? Isn’t eating healthy expensive and complicated? What about health risks associated with exposure to chemicals and toxic heavy metals in household products, why do we have one of the worst healthcare system (an overfed and undernourished society) in the world even though we spend far more on healthcare than any other nation on Earth, how about global warming, global hunger and water crisis and all other crises plaguing humanity in the 21st century and how are they connected to Health? These are just some of the questions I had, and I created this website to provide a simple answer to all of those questions because I strongly believe that for any CHANGE to be sustainable, it first has to be SIMPLIFIED and that is the mission of Going Yogue. Health and Happiness to ALL!
