โค๏ธ His son's heart stopped. He knew what to do.

At 14, Dominic suffered sudden cardiac arrest while traveling home from a workout with his father, who immediately began CPR.

Emergency responders used an AED to shock Dominicโ€™s heart four times. He later received an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD).

Today, Dominic is living and thriving! โค๏ธ

His story is a powerful reminder that recognizing sudden cardiac arrest and responding immediately can help save a life.

Meet Ashlen! โค๏ธ

When 14-year-old Ashlen saw a post about a heart screening, she thought her twin sister, a softball player, should get screened. But her mom had another idea: Ashlen, who participates in band, should get screened, too. The result was unexpected.

An electrocardiogram (ECG), a quick and noninvasive test that records the heart's electrical activity, detected Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, a heart condition that affects the heart's rhythm and can lead to sudden cardiac arrest.

Ashlen's story is an important reminder: You don't have to be an athlete to have an underlying heart conditionโ€”or to benefit from heart screening.

Give your child the benefit of early detection. Learn more about heart screening at CrimsonForKids.org.
