It’s been a year and a half since I landed in the ER after a two-and-a-half-hour panic attack.
At the time, I thought my body was completely betraying me.
What I didn’t know yet was that my nervous system had been dysregulated for years — and that perimenopause was quietly amplifying everything.
As my hormones started dropping and shifting with my cycle, my anxiety wasn’t just “in my head.” My body literally couldn’t buffer stress the way it used to.
That panic attack wasn’t random — it was my nervous system and hormones waving a white flag.
Since then, I’ve learned how deeply connected hormones, cortisol, and anxiety really are, and how to support my body instead of fighting it.
And I share this because if your anxiety feels cyclical, sudden, or out of character — you’re not broken, and you’re not alone.
