Disabled people and our struggles should never be reduced only to empty feel-good stories.

Image description: a BlueSky post by Misa on Wheels that reads:

“Feel-good stories about people with disabilities get shared significantly more than stories about their real life struggles.

It’s more comfortable for non-disabled people to tell themselves we’re doing just fine, instead of acknowledging how badly the system is failing us.”

Beneath the text are two images. On the left, there is a picture of a blonde woman sitting in a wheelchair wearing a wedding dress smiling. On the left is a photograph of a wheelchair user from behind with medium length red hair staring up at a staircase.

Hospitals and ERs are usually not the best place for people with chronic conditions. We end up on super long waiting lists for specialists in hopes of them being able to help.

Thank you, Kelly. 🤍

Paramore's Hayley Williams reflects on the loss of her ex-husband, New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert, who died over the weekend at the age of 45.

The singer said:

"Have not known what to say or if it's appropriate. But I feel sure now that I want to bc life is made of the paths we cross and the reasons we cross them are infinite.

Chad is indeed a legend in the scene and my time connected to him taught me a lot. He introduced me to people that continue to shape my life in beautiful ways, and to music and culture that has made life a lot richer.

There isn't much that hasn't already been said about what he contributed to the musical world a lot of us grew up in. His influence and attitude guided the genre forward. His passion for fostering the community was inspiring and sticks with me.

I will forever be grateful that from him I gained a deeper understanding and a reverence for the community and the culture of hardcore.

Sending love and my sympathies to his family, NFG
fam, and all his friends."
