🚩The conventional medical system does not have a category for subclinical chronic inflammation.

➡︎It has categories for diagnosable autoimmune disease.
➡︎For acute inflammatory conditions.
➡︎For infection.
➡︎For elevated acute-phase reactants.

❌What it does not have is a clinical pathway for the woman who is profoundly fatigued, diffusely achy, experiencing brain fog that has been worsening for two years, and has normal standard labs.

💥Normal CRP.
💥Normal CBC.
💥Normal metabolic panel.
💥Maybe slightly low vitamin D or slightly elevated TSH but nothing that crosses the threshold for treatment or investigation.

❤️‍🩹She is sent home.
❤️‍🩹She is told the labs look fine.
❤️‍🩹She is sometimes told to consider sleep hygiene or stress management.
❤️‍🩹She is occasionally offered an antidepressant.

What is happening in her biology during those years:
🚨hsCRP that is chronically between 1.5 and 2.5 mg/L
🚨elevated IL-6 that is blunting thyroid conversion and driving fatigue
🚨gut permeability that is activating the innate immune system with a steady low-level lipopolysaccharide signal
🚨a resolution pathway that is impaired by insufficient omega-3 status and accumulated cortisol burden from years of managed stress.

Her immune system is not broken. It is overloaded. And the system she came to for help does not have a tool for overloaded.

She eventually hits the wall because thresholds, once crossed, do not cross gently. A flare. A new diagnosis. A sudden dramatic worsening that finally produces lab values that someone recognizes.

AND… then the conversation starts.

I see her at that point. And the first thing I do is go back and find the threshold. Because the threshold is where the story actually started.

The investigation that should have happened earlier can still happen now.

❌The question most people ask when symptoms appear is: what caused this?
✅The more useful question is: what pushed you over your threshold?

The inflammation threshold is not a fixed number.
It is personal and is shaped by:
📌genetics
📌stress history
📌gut integrity
📌sleep quality
📌nutrient status
📌infection history
📌cumulative burden of everything the immune system has been managing quietly in the background.

↓Below the threshold, inflammation is doing its job. A scrape heals. An infection resolves. A stressful week passes and the body returns to baseline. You do not feel any of it because the system is managing within its capacity.

What changes is not the nature of the inflammation. What changes is whether the total load exceeds the system’s capacity to resolve it.

The inputs that push the load toward the threshold are usually not dramatic. They are ordinary.
🔥Poor sleep for a month.
🔥A stressful job transition.
🔥A gut infection that resolved but left dysbiosis.
🔥A food that creates a low-level immune response every time it is eaten.
🔥An emotional loss that elevated cortisol for longer than acute stress usually does.

Each of these alone sits well below the threshold. Together they stack.📚

When the threshold is crossed, the symptom that appears often looks like the most recent trigger caused it. But that is almost never the story. The story is the accumulated load that had been building for months or years before the threshold was finally crossed.

This changes what recovery looks like. Recovery is not about eliminating the last trigger. It is about reducing the total load far enough below the threshold that the system has space to resolve rather than just suppress.

Are you someone whose symptoms appeared suddenly but looking back, the load had been building for a while? YES or NO.

Comment “FLARE” to take the free Inflammation Threshold Test and see how close you currently are to your personal flare line across six key domains.

1️⃣Your gut microbiome is recirculating your estrogen.
The estrobolome, the collection of gut bacteria that metabolizes estrogen in the GI tract, includes bacteria that produce beta-glucuronidase, an enzyme that deconjugates packaged estrogen before it can be excreted.

When dysbiosis allows beta-glucuronidase activity to run high, estrogen that should be leaving your body in the stool is being cleaved and reabsorbed. This is why gut health is hormone health. You can eat perfectly, exercise consistently, and still have estrogen running high if your gut is recirculating it.

2️⃣Your liver is not clearing estrogen efficiently.
The liver processes estrogen through phase I and phase II detoxification pathways. Phase II requires glucuronidation and sulfation, both of which depend on B vitamins, magnesium, and adequate protein intake. Alcohol, which occupies liver detoxification capacity and impairs phase II processing, is one of the most direct contributors to estrogen accumulation. Even two drinks per week measurably affects estrogen clearance in some women.

3️⃣Your stress load is suppressing progesterone.
Chronic cortisol demand reduces the progesterone available for the luteal phase. Relative estrogen dominance from insufficient progesterone is one of the most common presentations I see, and it correlates directly with life stress periods.

4️⃣Your xenoestrogen exposure is higher than you realize.
BPA and phthalates from plastics, parabens and synthetic fragrances from personal care products, pesticide residues from conventional produce, and conventional meat and dairy from animals given estrogenic hormones all add to the total estrogenic burden. These compounds bind estrogen receptors with varying affinity and compound an already burdened estrogen metabolism system.

Which driver is most likely in your picture? Gut, liver, stress, or environment?

Baseball tournament week means hotel living, coolers, and eating on the go ⚾️
But nourishing your body doesn’t have to be complicated.

Today’s MVP? 🏆 A high-protein pasta salad that took less than 15 minutes to throw together, keeps everyone full between games, and saves us from spending a small fortune on concession stand food.

Healthy eating isn’t about perfection.
It’s about finding simple ways to support your body wherever life takes you—even if that’s a hotel room for a week.

Because energy matters.
Recovery matters.
And honestly... your player and family deserve to feel good while on vacation. 💚

Are you team meal prep or team wing it when traveling?

If you had told my younger self that one day I’d get excited about harvesting lettuce from my garden, baking sourdough, and spending a quiet evening at home with a good book... I probably wouldn’t have believed you. 😂

But here we are.

And honestly? These simple things bring me so much joy.

Maybe it’s getting older. Maybe it’s realizing that peace feels better than constantly being busy. Or maybe it’s just discovering that slowing down isn’t boring—it’s fulfilling.

These days you’ll usually find me in the garden, reading something that makes me think, working on my sourdough starter, or enjoying a quiet night at home.

Tell me I’m not the only one... what are your “millennial hobbies”? 🌱📚🍞

🔄A lot of women come to me having spent years managing their cycle.

💔Managing the pain.
💔Managing the mood swings.
💔Managing the bloating and the exhaustion and the week before their period when they do not feel like themselves.

And I understand why.

When symptoms are significant and the medical system offers management rather than explanation, managing is the rational response.

💥But I want to offer a different frame.💥

Your cycle is the most detailed monthly biological report card your body produces:
🔎the length of each phase
🔎the character of your bleed
🔎the timing and quality of your PMS symptoms
🔎your energy, libido, sleep, digestion across the four phases

All of it shifts in patterned ways across the cycle.
→And all of it is communicating something about the hormonal environment your body is running in.

🔑Heavy periods are reporting something about estrogen metabolism and uterine inflammation.

🔑Mid-cycle headaches are reporting something about the estrogen drop at ovulation.

🔑Late-luteal anxiety is reporting something about progesterone levels and allopregnanolone availability.

🔑Luteal-phase fatigue is reporting something about thyroid function, iron, and mitochondrial capacity.

The report is being written every month. You have probably been reading some of the headlines. The investigation is about reading the full text.

Once you can do that, the symptoms are no longer things to manage around. They are information that points toward the actual solution.

What is the cycle symptom that has been loudest for you and that no one has ever properly explained?

Your cycle’s report card is worth reading. Discovery calls are open. Link in bio.
