How do we learn to feel more at home within ourselves?

This month’s newsletter explores qigong as a practice of finding and returning to yourself through movement, breath, and intent.

“Repeated practice develops capacity, rather than simply producing a pleasant experience.”

That capacity can show up in everyday moments: noticing tension sooner, responding differently to a familiar pattern, or recognizing what you need and making an adjustment.

Relief is not always a dramatic shift.

Sometimes it is a softer breath, less tension, or a little more room to move. Over time, these small experiences can help the body begin to trust that relief is possible.

Massage can be one path back toward greater comfort.

Massage was not always comfortable for Jason. Receiving it felt vulnerable, and becoming a massage therapist did not make that discomfort disappear overnight.

That understanding now shapes the care he offers: listening closely, respecting each person’s limits, and allowing trust to develop at their own pace.

In *Coming Home to Your Body*, Jason explores how massage can support relief, trust, and a deeper sense of home in the body. Read the blog at the link in our bio.

We often imagine feeling at home in our bodies as a state we will reach once the pain, tension, or stress is gone.

But bodies change. Discomfort returns. A sense of home cannot depend on feeling comfortable all the time.

Sometimes coming home begins with a smaller experience. A breath deepens. A muscle softens. Pressure eases. The body no longer has to work quite so hard to brace.

Massage does not have to solve everything in one visit to matter. When relief happens in a setting where our choices, needs, and limits are respected, it can become more than temporary comfort. It can become evidence:

My body can settle.
My signals matter.
There is a way back.

In the newest chapter of our Coming Home series, Jason Eyer, LMT, explores massage as one physical path through relief, safety, trust, and home. Not because massage promises permanent comfort, but because repeated experiences of responsive care can help us build a different relationship with the body.

What if you didn't have to be "good at drumming" to experience what rhythm can offer?

You don't.

This Saturday, Andrew (Drew) Kowal Neversink Rhythms will guide us through an afternoon of rhythm, grounding, connection, and exploration at Rhythm & Resilience: A Community Drum Circle.

You can come with experience or without it. You can bring your own drum or use one of ours. You can participate fully or take things at your own pace.

We'll explore simple rhythmic practices together and then close the afternoon with the quieter sounds of singing bowls.

No performance. No musical experience required. Just an opportunity to gather, explore, and experience rhythm together.

Last chance to join us! Writing Ourselves Home begins this Wednesday, September 16.

For four weeks, we will make room to slow down, listen inwardly, and reconnect with what can become difficult to hear amid busy lives and uncertain seasons.

Through reflective writing, gentle embodiment, and supportive conversation, we will practice welcoming our questions, griefs, dreams, longings, and inner wisdom without needing polished words or clear answers.

No writing experience is needed. Sharing is always optional.

We will meet Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Healing Phases Wellness Center, virtual option via Zoom.

If you have been considering joining us, now is the time. This is our final invitation before the circle begins.

Registration is available through the link in our bio.

Long before we had words for stress, regulation, or resilience, human beings had rhythm.

Our bodies are rhythmic. Breath rises and falls. The heart beats. We move through cycles of activity and rest. Shared rhythm can give the nervous system something steady and predictable to organize around.

That is part of what Andrew (Drew) Kowal of Neversink Rhythms will explore during Rhythm & Resilience.

This is not simply an afternoon of making music. Drew brings an interest in the science of rhythm and its relationship to nervous system regulation, grounding, resilience, and connection.

And you do not have to consider yourself musical to participate.

The practices are simple and accessible, and you are welcome to engage at your own comfort level. We'll finish the circle by moving from the active rhythm of the drums into the quieter experience of singing bowl sound healing.
