If what worked for you at 30 suddenly isn’t working at 45, doing MORE of it may not be the answer.
Eat less. Exercise more. Be more disciplined.
That’s usually where women go first.
Because when your weight starts creeping up or your body composition changes, it’s easy to assume you must be doing something wrong.
But midlife changes the conversation.
As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass. During the menopause transition, hormonal changes can also affect where your body stores fat, with more tending to accumulate around the abdomen. Add changes in sleep, stress, activity and other health factors, and suddenly the same routine can feel very different in the body you have now.
That doesn’t mean menopause automatically causes weight gain. And it definitely doesn’t mean your body is working against you.
It means this may be the point where “just try harder” stops being a very useful health strategy.
If your body has changed, we want to know more than what the scale says.
How are you sleeping?
Have your periods changed?
Are you experiencing hot flashes or night sweats?
Has your strength or muscle changed?
What are you eating?
What medications are you taking?
What else has changed that you may not have thought was connected?
The goal is to understand what’s actually happening in your body, including the role hormones may or may not be playing.
At Simply Wellness Concierge, we offer individualized support for women navigating midlife, including weight-management care and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) when appropriate.
If you’re tired of trying to solve a changing body with the same old advice, start by getting answers.
