Register today! https://cdmcd.co/mXMP5Q

Driving is a major component of independence within American society. Return to driving after limb loss can be challenging, especially when the right side is affected. While individual factors such as level and cause of limb loss affect return to driving, access, and availability of driving rehabilitation is a major factor as well. Gaps in understanding driving safety, #driving habits, and mechanisms for return to safe driving were identified. We present a summary of impairments and mechanisms contributing to challenges with return to driving, driving options and their risk-benefit, and both system and policy guidelines for return to safe driving.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will be able to discuss driving safety and related impairments following lower limb loss.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to guide persons with limb loss regarding driving options following lower limb loss.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to contextualize system and system and policy guidelines in their care of persons with limb loss.

Gut Microbiome Composition and Serum Metabolome Profile among Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury

Metabolic function is significantly impaired in people with paraplegia and tetraplegia, and impaired glucose and lipid metabolism are more prevalent in the spinal cord injury (#SCI) population than in the general population. Accumulating evidence from able-bodied individuals demonstrates that gut microbiota and metabolic health are linked. In this symposium, presenters will discuss current evidence on a potential link between #microbiome composition and metabolic health in SCI and demonstrate results from their research studies which compared the gut microbiome composition and serum metabolome profile among individuals with SCI and normal glucose tolerance (NGT) or prediabetes/type 2 #diabetes (P/DM).

Vision impairment secondary to stroke is one the most common sources of disability, though vision dysfunction remains underrecognized, underassessed, and undertreated. This symposium at the ACRM Virtual Conference will describe the ACRM Visual Symptom and Signs Screen (V-SASS). The final results from a multi-site study designed to assess the feasibility and validity of the instrument will be presented. Presenters will discuss successes, challenges, and strategies as they pertain to the development and implementation of the V-SASS in this multi-site study, and will conclude with ways to operationalize the V-SASS into daily practice across settings.

Development child's cognitive ability Music has a complex coding system there are many exact mathematical elements : duration , interval , scale , pitch , beat ,frequency and their relationship .Reading of musical notation is a multi-modal integration of different areas of brain involved simultaneously. The variable of the neural signals from the dorsal premotor cortex and the primary motor cortex describes the activity of neural plasticity happening in brain preceding a decision – making between effort and accuracy of pressing of a key. The future of effective music learning for beginners is combined with pattern recognition technology. The technology uses the numbers ,symbols ,images which allow the brain to perceive musical information in a different way. Melody recognition on numeric sequences 3345.5432. 1123. 3020. 3345. 5432. 1123. 2010. Ode to Joy Bethoven 3330.3330. 3512. 3000. 4444. 4333. 3223.2050. 3330. 3330. 3512. 3000. 4444.4333.3554. 2010. Jingle Bells How does a child project the music information in brain which he see .This makes us wonder what type of information is faster transferred from bipolar cells to ganglion cells? The ability to read music signs is due to specific stereoscopic properties of the visual system. Five horizontal-longitudinal lines cause the phenomenon of interference in photoreceptors, which creates difficulties in mixed reading a melody along the y - vertical and x - horizontal. In numeric sequences the visual perception flows along the x-horizontal ,which facilitates the input of tuning trajectory and visual adaptation. The physiological rationale for using of Digital Key to code and decode a melody is as follows: children begin acquaintance with numbers already at preschool age ,when they are taught to count, and this system is mastered quite well by children, since it is used often in everyday life. But the generally accepted music grammar is new for them and , naturally, requires some additional period of time to be acquired by children. It is for that reason in the initial period of musical teaching children inevitably spend a lot of time and efforts to read a melody written down in music signs. Naturally, it causes psycho-emotional discomfort , slows down the rate of learning and , as a result, reduces the child's interest to the music. Therefore, in the initial period of teaching ,besides work with the generally accepted music grammar, it will be useful to substitute it with digital system for some time .This does not mean that we want to do without standard musical grammar, but in the primary stages of musical learning, the method of recognizing melody by number sequences is undoubtedly useful, as it allows children to learn faster and easier. The study topic covers both fundamental concepts of neural coding and signal processing at various levels along side the audio - visual- motor synchronization as well as strategies for children with special needs teaching. https://lnkd.in/dvGyhwh NeuromusicLab Reflection Ukraine

Announcing a free online symposium, open to anyone interested in learning more about the current science and research on Alexander technique as an intervention, entitled “Current Scientific Research and Models for the Alexander Technique” on May 18th at 12 noon Eastern time. This is an opportunity to view how AT is making its way forward and reaching more people through our better understanding of how contemporary science supports and clarifies this transformative work. Consistency in language and a grounding in the contemporary scientific aspects of the AT principles is really essential to advance and enter the mainstream of the general public, removing barriers to access for broader socioeconomic groups in the 21st Century. Dr. Tim Cacciatore, Assoc. Prof. Rajal Cohen, Prof. Ian Loram and Dr. Patrick Johnson will present an overview of what current science has to offer the Alexander Technique. This 2.5 hour in-depth symposium addresses the urgent need for updating our scientific understanding of our work. It also aims to help AT teachers to better communicate with scientists, medical professionals, and AT colleagues. For more information and to sign up, visit: www.alexandertechniquescience.com/symposium2020/ For those who cannot join live, please sign up for information about accessing the post symposium video.https://www.alexandertechniquescience.com/symposium2020/
Hard to exaggerate the importance of Dr. Paul Harch's recently published study, which duplicates the 2015 Israeli studies showing that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) helps heal TBI even years post-injury. Since 2015 HBOT is standard treatment for most brain injuries in Israel. DOD, VA and Tricare, must move to make it standard of care here If you have connections with these organizations, please push them to adopt this life-altering treatment for TBI/ABI. Let's not wait for FDA approval. Costing tens of millions, the FDA process effectively precludes alternative therapies from gaining traction - regardless of efficacy. Physicians should be encouraged to use HBOT off-label for brain injured patients. The DOS, VA and Tricare should be encouraged to include it as a covered treatment for TBI/ABI.
Call for Proposals
Hope this video gives a sense of what alternative therapies may offer to brain injury survivors. Bart has made great progress since this video was made, boosted by Omega-3 supplementation, LENS neurofeedback, and even hypnosis. And so it goes. God bless us all.
Hope you find our spirited defense of alternative therapies for ABI thought-provoking and useful. God bless those that served.
