We are meant to have 2 or 3 eating events a day.
We are not meant to spike insulin in-between meals. That means we can burn fat during those times.

Best to stop eating 3 hours before bedtime.
If you do eat breakfast make sure it's at least 12 hours after the end of dinner and at least one hour after you wake up.

Quality sleep is very important.

✔No food 3 hours before bed is to make sure digestion does not interfere with deep sleep/quality of sleep.
✔No work is to turn that brain off. Destress. Gives you time to transition from work to not work before bedtime.
✔No screens is so the blue light doesn't wake you up. You should be tired and we should honor that tiredness and go to bed.

Lack of quality sleep makes you 30% hungrier and typically creates a sympathetic HRV score (cortisol/stress). This means you are a cranky sugar burner easily triggered by almost everything.
It is time to prioritize sleep.

This is my first excellent sleep score. I then checked my 30 day average and benchmark. Looking good!

It is so important to prioritizing sleep. Lack of sleep, lack of quality sleep is correlated with many chronic diseases and mental health issues.

Yes, you can be sleeping 7-8 hours and have no quality, no deep and REM. Rather like you are eating enough calories but not enough nutrients. This is why tracking the right data is important.

These four steps are essential to getting better sleep.

1. Set a bedtime and try to stick to it. I know that I want to start to wind down around 9 and to be in bed by 10 every night.

2. Put your phone on airplane mode, shut off the TV, and put away all devices 45 minutes before bed.

3. Use the remaining time to focus on active relaxation. This can include reading, journaling, meditation, or meaningful conversation with loved ones. I like to have a hot bath around 8:30 p.m. Then I read for a little while and write in my gratitude journal.

4. Get exposure to sunlight in the morning. Believe it or not, one of the best ways to reset your circadian rhythm is to expose yourself to about 15 minutes of sunlight in the morning. Instead of looking at your phone first thing, try a meditation or walk outside. Try to get outside a few times a day. At night, close to bedtime, keep the lighting dim. Low lighting sends a signal to your body that it’s time to sleep. Try blue light-blocking glasses after the sun goes down.

P*e, p**p and perspire are our bodies' mechanisms to get rid of toxins. Constipation is not normal. Going once or twice a week is not normal.

I wish non starchy vegetable carbs were not mixed in with sugar and processed food carbs. The impact on insulin release between these two types of carbohydrates is night and day. I believe people get confused that low carb diets mean no good vegetables.

Magnesium is nature's relaxation mineral.
After listening to Doctor's Farmacy podcast "Supplements Useful or Useless" multiple times, I started taking 240 mg magnesium glycinate right at bedtime.

My sleep quality improved, better deep sleep. Plus, I no longer wake up during the night.

My parents came through on their way to Florida last week. Magnesium was one topic that came up.
I heard yesterday that my Dad is now sleeping much better. He's had chronic pain for decades that impacts his sleep. He's sleeping better means my Mom is sleeping better.

Quality sleep is imperative for good mental health and to avoid/slow down the progression of many diseases, including Alzheimer's.

I tell our clients that cortisol is a kick in the butt to perform an action to move forward. It means answering that email, working 10 minutes on that project, talking to that person....

When the thoughts causing your stress are future thoughts or past regrets or big world issue and there doesn't seem to be an action that you can perform...get moving! Go for a walk, vacuum the living room, DO something.

Stress is meant to be acute. Cortisol spikes then goes back down. Without cortisol we would never accomplish anything. Cortisol actually helps wake us up and gets us going in the morning.

It's the chronic stress that harms our health in multiple ways.
