Fully vaccinated people are at least 3x less likely to be infected with COVID-19, according to a new CDC analysis. Among people with COVID-19, fully vaccinated people were half as likely to need emergency care or hospitalization, and 7x less likely to die from COVID-19 than unvaccinated people. Protect yourself and your community by becoming fully vaccinated, receiving your booster dose when recommended, and engaging in recommended prevention steps (like wearing masks or physical distancing in indoor public places where spread is high or substantial). Wondering what being in a community with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission means? It means that there is a greater risk of COVID-19 in a community. Levels of transmission are looked at using two measures:
- The rate of new cases reported over the previous 7 days
- The proportion of COVID-19 tests performed in that community that were positive over the previous 7 days.
- Public health recommendations about wearing masks or going to large gatherings may change based on the spread of COVID-19 in an area. Extra precautions will be recommended in substantial or high transmission areas. This is because you are more likely to be exposed to someone with the virus.

If you had COVID-19, you might have some temporary protection against reinfection. But you should still get vaccinated. Here's why:
- People who test positive and don't get vaccinated are 5 times more likely to have a repeat positive COVID-19 test.
- Studies show that vaccination boosts immune response and reduces the risk of a repeat infection.
- The bottom line: antibody levels vary widely from one person to another after an infection. The best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 is to get vaccinated.
- For more information and to find a vaccination site: https://vaccinate.virginia.gov/

GREENE: Why are we vaccinating children against COVID?

"Why, you may ask, are we now vaccinating children ages 5 to 11 against the COVID-19 virus? You’ve probably heard that serious effects of the virus in young children are rare, and you have heard correctly. So why vaccinate? I will answer by broadening the question: Why do we vaccinate children at all?" -- Dr. Colin Greene, Acting Director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District and Director of the Lord Fairfax Health District

If you’re not vaccinated, the more-contagious Delta virus is more likely to infect you, even if you’ve managed to avoid COVID thus far.

I have been unable to access the vaccine pre-registration site this morning. Is it up or is the site that overwhelmed?
https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-vaccine/ "...the Virginia Department of Health has directed all local health districts to close their pre-registration forms and surveys at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12, and replace them at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16 with a link to the new statewide system on this page." Fairfax County Department of Health has defied the directive and declined to comply with the VDH directive.
I still haven't gotten an e-mail about my covid vaccination registration. I signed up when it was first available, and have re-registered several times.
Waiting. I think i am registered, but not sure. How can I check on my position on list to get vaccine?
How does a person who is bedridden go about getting the covid vaccine? Our personal physician who is not affiliated with a major medical system has been unable to get much of the vaccine and doesn't know when they might get more.
How far in advance is notification of Pfizer vaccine #2 for Chesterfield County???? I know of 4 people who are due THIS thursday for #2 and have yet to be notified by email OR phone.
Is any county in Virginia offering drive-through vaccination clinics? I know that Prince William is not. After avoiding public spaces including stores for a year, why would I risk getting Covid by going into a building with other people in order to be vaccinated? And Prince William's one vaccination facility opening Tuesday, the 16th, is at Manassas Mall and includes 20-30 MORE vaccination stations than previous vaccine clinics. This makes me feel even more unsafe than I already felt. PLEASE PROVIDE ME WITH AN ANSWER, hopefully one that includes a location for drive-thru vaccine. Neighboring states Maryland and North Carolina both have drive-through clinics for vaccine. A number of other states do as well. Why Not Virginia? Please DO reply to my question. Thank you. Ruth Furbee ([email protected])
Are the vaccines still happening today at the Arthur Ashe center?
I had a vaccine appt at Arthur Ashe Athletic center today at 3:45. I cannot get anyone on the phone to verify that these are still happening today. Will someone please reply to this?
Is the vaccine clinic at Arthur Ash open today 2/12/21 for the pre registered appointments? Many others have been closed due to weather.
What IDIOT at VDH grouped Senior citizens 65+ with people living in migrant labor camps, correctional facilities, etc...for receiving the COVID shot? (Phase 1-B). This is as per the VDH website main page...no wonder I can't get scheduled for a shot being a 70 yr old Senior...I need to be a Migrant Criminal...LOL!! 😂🤔
Where do employees who work in the hotels fit in with this plan? As usual we are left out of even mentioning our segment and we are the hardest hit. Thank you
