Prenatal Yoga is BACK!!! And we're online!
Sundays from 2:30-3:45pm
with Kyra

We are using the ZOOM platform so we will all be able to see each other and share in the beginning as we always do.

I can imagine this has been an especially difficult time for all of you as you prepare for your new baby to enter the world and maybe not feeling as connected as you'd like. I'm hoping that we can build a strong community and continue practicing together so we can be there for each other.

To join, follow this link to our schedule at Yoga Shala Richmond.

How to take an ONLINE class?
- Download the ZOOM app or go to ZOOM.us on your laptop, tablet or phone
- Sign up for class on MindBody through our schedule page.
Please sign up at least 30 minutes before the start of class. You will receive an invitation to the ZOOM meeting by email about 15 minutes before class. Make sure that your email is correct in your mindbody profile.
- Find a quiet space (haha do your best) in your home to fit your mat and stretch out. Log into the Zoom meeting to start class.

FREE OPTION: We know this pandemic has created hardship for so many in our community as well as other small businesses like ourselves. We want to make our classes accessible to everyone who is interested and we understand that many people do not have the financial means at this time. If this applies to you, please use our Need-Based Free Class option - we want to see you in class! (Contact Kyra at [email protected] 24 hours before the class you want to take and I will send you a free link to the class.)

YOGA PROPS: We are used to using a lot of props in prenatal yoga. Gather up whatever you can around the house so that you'll have 2 blocks, a bolster, a blanket and a strap. For Blocks: Nut milk cartons are great to use as blocks (As long as you don't put a lot of weight on them), food cans, books.
Bolsters: couch cushions or pillows
Strap: bathrobe belt or any belt.
Bring a blanket or some towels too.

Hope to see you there!

Congratulation to Elizabeth Clinard who gave birth on Saturday, Feb 15th - one day past her due date. Being that it was her second baby, she was surprised at the length of the labor (13 hours) but said everything went really well! Sweet baby Mary Elizabeth was born weighing 9 pounds and 22.5" long. What a beautiful addition to an already beautiful family!

I will be reading the story in class next Sunday (the 29th). Heidi will be subbing for me this Sunday as I will be gone for my son's weekend soccer tournament. Looking forward to seeing you all then and sharing the news in person!

Congratulations to Meredith who gave birth on Saturday, Jan 11 at 3:40am. It was a short labor and she ended up having only 25 minutes at VCU with the midwives before sweet Claire was born. Phew, they left the house just in time. And look at that little cutie!

As for prenatal yoga, Meredith says "prenatal yoga has helped me with both deliveries in trying to stay calm, finding ways to open, making sure you are always moving, and enduring the temporary waves of pain. For that I am most grateful!"

We are so happy for you and your family Meredith and wishing you all the best in your adventures to come.

Sending love

Where can I find information about the beneits and risks of external cephalic version in our manual? I see the explanation of it, and I also see the part where it talks about how the Webster Technique avoids the costs & risks associated with versions, but I cannot seem to locate my notes about risks! Thanks in advance.
Couldn’t make it tonight because I was on baby duty but we tried to practice at home
Is yoga still on for today despite snow?
Here are some great books for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding: Pregnancy, Childbirth, and The Newborn, by Penny Simkin et. al. Breastfeeding Made Simple: 7 Natural laws for Nursing Mothers, but Nancy Mrohrbacher and Kathleen Kendall-Tackett I always feel so refreshed after yoga. I'm so glad I get to be there almost every week this pregnancy!
