Our Story

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Federal Identification Number (EIN) 16-1628388), the MEDARVA Foundation raises funds for programs and services that would not be possible without the support of a caring community. Your generosity allows us to provide the excellent programs and services you have come to expect from the MEDARVA Foundation.

The MEDARVA Foundation focuses our investments in three areas:

  • Low Vision Center - We are the only full-service low vision center in Central Virginia. Utilizing new technologies, we provide modern low visual aids and rehabilitation to those affected with vision loss so they can remain independent and improve their quality of life. For more information please visit www.lowvisionva.com.

  • Vision & Hearing Screening Program - This is an educational program, with a screening component, providing free state-of-the-art vision and hearing screenings to children about to enter kindergarten. We have been involved with vision and hearing screening programs for more than five years. We launched our own vision & hearing screening program after recognizing that 25% of pre-K students do not pass either the vision or hearing portion of the screening. Free vision and hearing screenings are currently available in the cities of Richmond and its surround counties, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and Petersburg. For more information please visit www.visionhearingscreen.com.
