"I am very grateful to Nik’s Wish for giving me hope during the hardest time of my life when hope was very difficult to find at times. I really feel like young adult cancer patients and survivors are the most neglected group in the cancer community with little resources out there for them during a very crucial time in life. They are starting careers, finishing up school, forming relationships, moving out, and trying to build a life for themselves. Everyone says young adult years are the best years, but cancer strips that away. Nik’s Wish really fills that gap and made me feel like I had a cause that was looking after me. I had heard about them through the hospital I was getting treatment at and applied for a wish. When someone reached out, it made me so excited. Everyone at the organization has been super kind and helpful. They regularly checked in to see how I was doing. They genuinely care and want to make people happy. And they succeed at bringing joy. My wish was to go to Maui. I had always seen family trips of people going there on TV and knew many people who would go with their families. It looked so beautiful and relaxing. I didn’t have the immunity or energy to be able to travel during treatment. But I thought if I ever made it through cancer treatment, it would be the best way to celebrate the end of it."
"Nik’s Wish made it happen! They let me know by gathering just about all my family at a park to do a wish reveal, which was really exciting after 5 days in a row of chemo. They booked me a flight to Maui. One of my favorite movies is Just Go With It, and they even booked the hotel that was featured in that movie, a beautiful resort that was a dream place of mine. They booked three excursions of my choice. I did a helicopter tour, boat ride, and luau. And Nik’s Wish made sure all our food and extra expenses while traveling were covered. That made it the carefree experience I wanted and needed. After cancer treatment, I really wanted to live my life to fullest, travel, be adventurous, and just do whatever makes me happy because I learned that life is too short. This was an amazing experience to kick off my new way of living. It was also an amazing way to spend quality time with family (my mom and aunt) and thank them for taking care of me and being there for me through many challenging months. I would’ve never been able to take a trip like that if it wasn’t for Nik’s Wish. It felt like a dream. I will never forget my time in Maui and how much Nik’s Wish brightened my life. Thank you so much for the amazing work you do!"
