Break out your favorite flavor of toothpaste because today, June 26, is National 🪥Toothbrush Day! In honor of our favorite under-celebrated holiday, we’ve rounded up a few facts about the little brush that has a big impact on your oral health.

• Soft-bristled toothbrushes are best. Hard bristles can be painful when brushing and may eventually erode tooth enamel at the gum line.

• Rounded bristles are better than blunt-cut bristles, which may damage delicate gum tissue.

• Nylon bristles were not introduced until 1938. Before that, toothbrushes were made with boar-hair bristles!

• You should replace your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head every three months or when the bristles look frayed.

• Toothbrushes should be stored in an upright position to keep bacteria away.

• The first mass-produced toothbrush was made in 1780 by William Addis of Clerkenwald, England.

• Manual toothbrushes are just as effective as electric toothbrushes. The difference is that most people don’t spend enough time brushing with a manual toothbrush to get the job done properly.

Fun toothbrush facts are brought to you from Lifetime Dental Group.

Dear Patients and Friends,

Happy New Year! Many of you have heard this by now, but I wanted to take this opportunity to announce that I am retiring from dentistry and have sold my practice. This is a bittersweet moment for me as I am leaving a profession that I have truly loved for 37 years. One reason for that love is because of you, my patients, and friends. Many of us have literally “grown up” together and you feel like family to me. I will miss seeing and treating you.

It is because of my deep concern for each of you that I have hand-picked an ideal replacement. Similar treatment philosophy, demeanor, integrity, and commitment to patient care were the main aspects that convinced me that Dr. Jamie Austin would be the perfect person to continue the legacy of excellence in dentistry that you have been accustomed to.

Dr. Jamie Austin grew up in the metro Atlanta area and attended dental school at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. She is an active member of the Georgia Dental Association and stays abreast with dental knowledge through ongoing continuing education. She is trained in all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry and places and restores implants. She is married and has a little one at home. In her free time, Dr. Austin enjoys spending time with her family, scuba diving, and staying active.

So far, the transition has been seamless. As expected, all the patients have loved seeing Dr. Austin and the dentistry she has been performing has been impeccable. And, don’t worry-- Tara, Sonya and RaDonna are still here enjoying Dr. Austin’s leadership and are continuing to serve our patients at a high level as usual.
Moving forward, I will be here to aid with the transition and possibly be able to introduce you to your new dentist. And, finally, a huge thank you for your trust and loyalty over these many years. I’d hug every one of you if could.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Dr. Coe

Hi Friends,
I just wanted to pass along a few thoughts that might interest you. One of the concerns I am having (as well as the rest of the dental profession) concerning COVID-19 is the potential collateral damage resulting from patients neglecting their oral health. Many are avoiding the dental office (as well as medical offices) for routine maintenance due to Coronavirus fears. But I say now is a great time to see your dentist—not just because I am a dentist, but for the following reasons:

1. The dental office has been proven to be a safe environment. It has been over 7 months since the first case of COVID 19 was diagnosed in the US. (January 21). And to this date, there has been no known transmission through the dental office. Paul Mulasseril, researcher and president of the Oklahoma Dental Association states: “There is currently no data on the spread of coronavirus in the dental chair. At this time, there has not been a suspected case of COVID-19 transmission from any dental office or procedure.” Additionally, at my office, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of our patients.

2. Beat the crowds. Dental offices began closing their doors around mid-March through the month of April. Since most patients are on a six-month cycle, their date for their recall exams is coming up now. So, since we saw virtually no-one during that six-week period, we are seeing a repeat of this now. It is indeed a great time to come into not-so-busy dental offices.

3. It may be more convenient now. Since many of you are working at home, it might be easier to find a slice in your schedule to get to doctor/dental appointments.

4. It's free. Complimentary consultations and second opinions.

I hope to see some of you soon. Don’t put it off.

It is a bizarre time!!!!
With all of the craziness of 2020--COVID 19, the racial tensions, and the upcoming election, I thought this picture that I took earlier this year might be appropriate. I think it is a great time for all of us to put aside the negative and just reflect on the the many wonderful aspects of our lives--God, our families, our health, and the freedom that we have in this great country of ours. Maybe this sunset can remind us of a greater power that is truly in control.

COVID 19 UPDATE
Just a little update from Dr. Coe about this pesky bug. Here at the office we have continued to be vigilant in our prevention of the spread of COVID 19. We want our patients to know that we have created a safe environment for all. Our usual stringent infection control procedures remain in place with extra precautions of social distancing of our patients, wearing masks for all in the office, and constant cleaning of all surfaces with hospital grade disinfectants. Dr. Coe's main concern for his patients is not only safety from this bug, but he is also concerned with those who are putting off treatment due to their concerns about COVID 19. We have known for some time now how one's oral health affects the rest of the body, so please don't allow your fears to keep you from maintaining excellent health. We don't want you to be a victim of COVID 19 collateral damage!!!!! Just call us at 770-475-3600

Another perfectly placed implant by Dr. Coe completed this morning. The patient had previously fractured his tooth in half, and Dr. Coe removed the remainder tooth today and placed the implant immediately, saving the patient a 4 month waiting period. You can see the equidistant placement of the implant between the two adjacent teeth. That is exactly what we like to see.
We know that COVID 19 continues to rear its ugly head, but here at the office we are open and have protocols in place to keep everyone safe. Don't be a victim of the collateral damage of COVID 19 by putting off necessary treatment, including cleanings and oral cancer exams. Give us a call at 770-475-3600 NOW.

Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community. Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find. Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one Dentist, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being featured in our local Welcome Kits. It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 70% of new residents and families seek out a new Dentist within 6 months of their relocation. As such, 7 out of 10 recipients of our Welcome Kits are actively looking for a new Dentist. I would like to schedule a time when you are expecting me so that I may drop off a sample of our "Welcome Kit" and explain the program in greater detail. Please reply to this email with your availability or call me at your earliest convenience. For a faster response, or if you prefer, feel free to text me on my cell which is listed in my signature.
