Sometimes the strongest people you know are fighting battles they never talk about.
Su***de prevention is personal to me.
Not because I have all the answers.
Not because I know what someone is supposed to say when the pain becomes unbearable.
But because I know that behind a smile, a “I’m fine,” a busy schedule, or even a strong faith, there can be a person silently fighting to make it through another day.
So this is your reminder:
You do not have to suffer in silence.
You do not have to have the right words.
You do not have to explain everything before you ask for help.
You can simply say:
“I’m not okay.”
“I need someone to stay with me.”
“I’m struggling.”
“Please don’t leave me alone right now.”
And if nobody has told you lately:
You matter.
Your life matters.
Your presence matters.
Your story is not finished.
The chapter you’re living through may be incredibly painful, but a painful chapter is not the same thing as the end of the story.
And if you’re the person on the other side—the friend, parent, sibling, spouse, coworker, pastor, teacher, or stranger who notices something is different—
ASK.
Check on them.
Listen without judgment.
Stay present.
Don’t assume someone would tell you if they needed help.
Sometimes saving a life begins with something as simple as:
“Hey. I noticed you’re not yourself. I’m here. Talk to me.”
Let’s stop being afraid of the conversation.
Let’s choose compassion over assumptions.
Presence over silence.
Hope over hopelessness.
You are seen.
You are loved.
You are not alone.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or thinking about su***de, call or text 988 in the U.S. for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
Stay. Just for today.
Tomorrow needs you. 💜
